punishment: right or wrong?

I just came across a new site called dogsmack.com and i read this disturbing article about a punishment a teacher gave some students. Here is the article:Beijing (Reuters)- A Chinese teacher forced two schoolgirls to drink a bottle of licker between them as punishment for neglecting their studies, Chinese media reported on Monday. The middle school girls were sent to hospital on Friday in northwestern Shaanxi province suffering from vomiting and dizziness after they drank the Baijiu- a powerful grain-based alcohol which means "white licker" in Chinese. "The teacher found a hair curler and a letter among their belongings, so he decided to punish them for not concentrating on their studies," the Beijing news said. "At the teacher's insistence, the two girls had to finish one bottle of Baijiu against their will."A schoolboy who spoke out against the punishment was beaten by the same teacher, it said. The report did not say whether the teacher would face punishment. In September, a history teacher in central China beat an 11-year old student senseless and threw her from a fourth-floor classroom window, killing her in a so-far unexplained frenzy. Ok, now, over here in the US, the one teacher in my opinion should have been put in jail and lost his job and the school should have been sued. As for the other teacher who killed the student, well, I would have made sure he was on death row. When adults do that to children, it just makes me soo mad. I mean i can't believe they would do such an act. Beating a child because he didn't agree with a punishment that was given to a fellow student? Makes one wonder what this world is coming to. What do you think?

It is indeed extremely bizarre and sad to read about the way that some teachers have punished thier students. We learn from our teachers and they set examples and role models to us. Other then the damage done directly to the children who have treated this way, can you magine the state of mind of the other children who have witnessed or know about this. What kind of an ever lasting impression does this leave on them. The educational authorities of institutions need to have a proper screening system in place to ensure they don't get these kind of people into the educational system.

I agree. It is sad to see and read about the things that happen to kids these days. I think that is why I am protective of my son. I know and have seen that anything is possible these days. There is no telling what can happen anymore.
