How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

bathroom scale - Are you afraid of the scale?

Do you own a bathrooms scale and, if so, how often to do you use it? I have one, but most of the time it collects dust. I guess I have a certain fear of stepping on the scale, but when I go to the doctor, there's no choice in the matter there. I got weighed last week and cringed when I found out how much weight I have to lose. So, how often do you weigh yourself? Once a week, once a day or, like me, never? Do you watch your weight like you should or just eat and hope you can close those jeans without too much of a struggle?

Good for you! You obviously have no fear of the scale like me and made friends with it. I hope to make friends with mine soon, but I'm not quite sure I could weigh myself more than once a week.

Congratulations to you for sticking to your goal and achieving such great results. I'm doing Weight Watchers and exercising and I'm already seeing results after a week, but I have a long way to go.

I was very heavy at one time in my life and I needed to take control... last year after loseing 50 lbs I went for a tummy tuck. and love the results.. Now I want to lose the rest of my weight . I joined a gym with my hubby and son ( a family gym) .. my hubby and I hired a personal trainner.. in 8 weeks I lost 14 lbs and 20 inches threwout my body.. I use to never get on the scale either. Untill I made it my friend.. Once I got it in my head that there are days your body holds more water, naturally the #'s will go up slightly.. I know when I eat soup again sodium, temp weight gain by a lb or so .. to each there own but I am at a point I need to keep a close eye on my weight for the rest of my life since I was very heavy at one time .. I think of it as a way of life .. :)

Its good to weigh yourself often. It makes you to check your weight and control it. I weigh my weight once in 3 to 4 months.

Right now I'm on Weight Watchers which is a good thing because I have to weigh myself once a week whether I want to or not. However, seeing that I am losing the weight is very positive and keeps me motivated.

Well, I guess it depends on what day of the week you choose. Obviously, Monday is a bad day since the weekend can ruin any chance of losing weight. I picked Wednesday as my weighing day. That gives me Monday and Tuesday to recoop any calories that might have ruined my chances of losing any weight from too much eating on the weekends.

hi wachit. right now i weigh myself everyday because i'm trying to bulk up to 150 lbs. once, i've reached taht i'll be starting my fitness regimen to shed fat and repalce it with muscles. it's really good that we weigh ourselves regularly. however, another good method is to look at ourselves in the mirror naked. the visual shock (or disgust) will definitely drive any sane person into losing those excess pounds. lol! i

It's unusual to find a person who is looking to gain weight. That can't be too easy since you are looking to gain muscle, not fat. As for looking in the mirror, I don't know if that truly works with everyone. I think people stop seeing how much weight they are gaining otherwise they wouldn't have gotten that way in the first place. I do think that using the scale is the best way to track a healthy weight loss or gain. Thanks.

I also own bathroom scale but I don't weigh too often, like you I get so disappointed whenever I weigh myself and realized how much weight I put on and how much I need to lose. If ever I get the courage to weigh I'll bring out that yellow bathroom scale and tip and hide it again, walk away and pretend I didn't weigh at all. :) happy mylotting!javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','') post response

We do have a weighing scale at home. It is place in our room. But just like your case, it also collects dust. I weigh myself not all the time. Its not that I am afraid that I weigh to much but rather I just forget that its there. Well, when I am feeling that I easily get tired, I go to the weighing scale and check my weight. Often when I am overweight I easily get tired. So its time for the scale.

I don't own a scale, so the only time I get weighed is at the doctor's office once, maybe twice, a year. I don't like to focus on my weight because it isn't really an accurate measure of health and fitness. Muscle weighs more than fat, so when people work out, they are likely to GAIN weight...not lose it. That tends to discourage people and make them go back to bad habits. Women who retain water will also see higher numbers on the scale during PMS and their period. It just doesn't matter. What matters is measurements. It's smarter to measure your waist, thighs, upper arms, bust, and hips than to concentrate on weight. If you measure instead of using a scale, you're also more likely to notice a difference after you start working out or dieting.

I don't own a bathroom scale. I usually weigh myself only once or twice a week. These are the days that I give plasma to save lives, and before doing so I must get weighed. For several months I've been trying to loose weight. It was just recently that the weight has been coming off slowly but surely. I want to say that it's because of hard work, exercise, watching what I eat, and getting plenty of rest. But it's not. My doctor recently put me on a medication for focus and motivation. In a little of two weeks, I lost 6 pounds without doing anything. My doctor says it's normal. Weightloss is one of the side affect of the meds. So, thank you doctor!

I don't own a scale because I don't see the need too... I have jeans ranging in size from 2 to 6. I always gain during the winter and lose during the summer. I don't really watch what I eat. During the winter I eat but during the summer I just can't. So I figure if I don't gain the weight to lose during the summer I will be so thin I won't be able to stand up.

I haven't weighed myself in a long time. I don't think I even have a scale anymore. LOL Besides, even if I did have one, I really wouldn't be able to see the numbers on it.

I never weigh myself and it may be because I don't have a bathroom scale. It would not matter to me though, how much I weighed because I don't know what my ideal weight is anyway and I couldn't care less. I am a guy after all and less concerned with weight than women. I look awful but I don't really care.

I'm not much of a weight watcher, I'm normally between 110-120 if that. But every now and then I might get on the scale and see just how much I weigh exactly. But it's not weekly or ever monthly. It's a normal bathroom scale but it's not that often.
