Since steroids have been widley used in baseball it poses a question. What would baseball be like without steroids? Would there be home runs, high scoring games or the Home run derby. I think that without steroids baseball would be boring and uneventfull.
What are your opinons on what effect steroids have on the game, Would baseball be different without steroids, and how many people in baseball do you think have used or are using steroids or hgh drugs.

Baseball would have been the purist sport and would have had many different and more fans then they do now with Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, and Roger Clemens who have all used steroids and have tarnished the name of baseball and to be honest the legends of the past would be disgusted to see what their sport has turned into.
Steroids are just giving players the cheap and easy way to accomplishing their goals

I don't think that baseball would be much different now. Now they test for steroids, and pretty much everyone is clean, except for the few cases that you hear about in the headlines. There would still be home runs, because all of the big home run hitters now- Howard, Utley, Bay, Thome, etc. are all clean. We know this because there is testing in baseball now and every one of those players have been tested, and have not taken steroids.
On the other hand, if no steroids ever came to baseball, there would be some different things around.
Barry Bonds would NOT hold the home run record.
Sammy Sosa would NOT have hit 600 home runs.
Roger Clemens would NOT have recorded all of the stats he has and would NOT be regarded as one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Less people would have been turned away from baseball because of the cheating.
The whole sport would NOT be under Supreme Court watch right now.
I believe that hundreds of players have used performance enhancing supplements. There have been at least 50 names thrown out there, and many convicted, but I bet many players, almost all of the players that played in the late nineties, used steroids.

I find that it would probably not have heavy Home Run totals though the last few seasons haven't had someone go up to the 60 Home Run range. While steroids can make someone stronger, you still have to do the work no matter what. I'm not so sure how HGH helps players out on the field to be honest. I'm really baffled on that one.
