i know this sounds ridiculous. i can imagine the disbelief on your face and the laughter that follows soon. i'm going to admit that i seriously don't know how to use this site.
i was wondering how anyone gets so many friends. i know i don't have a lot of friends here. and i fear the rejection if i were to approach anyone and ask them to be my friend. in one of my posts, i was lamenting about my lack of friends. until recently, i asked a fellow mylotter about adding him/her as a friend and he/she replied that a request was already sent. i waited patiently but didn't get any notification so i decided to do it myself. when i clicked on the 'friends' link, i realise i've got friends requests! some goes back as far as 8 months!
so all these while there's these nice people wanting to be my friend. and the stupid me just don't know how to work it. this is so embarrassing and i want to apologise to all the friends i've just added. so sorry ;p

thanks for your kind words. i'm just too silly to realise that the number beside the 'friends' link mean something. i've always though it just stands for the number of friends i've already added. it's only today that i realise it means the number of friends request. i'm gonna be more diligent and add them as they comes. cheers ;p

I am sure you are not alone.
A lot of my referrals also did not add me to their friend list when they first joined mylot.
As such, they did not have that option of turning on the notification to get emails about their postings or mine, for that matter.
So now with all your friends listed and accepted, I guess it is onto the task of turning on the notification for all of them.
This should keep you with a steady stream of replies and postings from all the people in your friend list. This means more activity here in mylot liow!

I have just been sending friend requests to all those who have sent me nice replies to my discussions and I think most of them have accepted me as their friend. It really helps because now I get a lot of email notifications in my inbox and this keeps my fingers busy and my purse full.

it's great to know that you've got a lot of friends. i am still in the process of adding friends. i can't be sure if they've added me or not. ;p
i try to respond to as many discussions as i can. but having many friends really helps as they will start interesting discussions. i will be more motivated to respond to discussions started by my friends. ;p

You're not stupid! We all did that
when we were new to MyLot.
Actually, there were friends that I
didn't get around to approving from requests.
And then I took my six month leave.
And when I came back, many of the requests
were eight months old or more.
I have since caught up on them all.

It happened to some of us, including me when I was still a newbie. But when I got to familiarize myself with Mylot features, I also happened to overlook that small portion of friend request.
Before, I used to go direct to the discussion category, not even bothering to check the whole Mylot page. And it so happened that someone sent me a friend request almost a month ago. When I finally noticed the "friend" portion at the top page, I immediately approved that member.
Now that you've mentioned about this friend requests, I'm thinking maybe those members I sent friend requests a year ago, who I thought didn't bother to even respond, may have this same situation. But when I thought I was being rejected, that made me not to send another friend request. It discouraged me a little bit. So, whenever someone sent me a friend request, I just checked their profile and approve them right away.
But those members who sent you a friend request dating as far back as 8 months, was sure very patient to wait for your approval. And it's a good thing you've posted this discussion, so you can explain your side why the waiting took too long for them.

yes i guess that's what i should have done much earlier. instead i just kept to myself. thankfully i finally got around to familiarising myself with mylot. i think few here at mylot can actually beat my 8-month record. this is hilarious, at least to me. i really hope those mylotters are reading this. at least they'll know that i am just blur, instead of proud. thanks ;D

You really should not make assumptions about yourself.
I used to think friends would reject me until I started asking and getting as a matter of course.
Why should anyone reject an offer like that on the net ?
I think this is just a case of first time jitters.
Everyone can have a load of friends.

yes i shouldn't have made those assumptions. the word 'assume' made an axx out of you and me. that's what's been said to me a dozen times. so i guess it's really a case of first time jitters. i'm thankful to all those who have sent me friend requests. and i should be sending out a few soon. cheers ;)

Ah, interesting little discoveries. I do not ask people to add me as a friend. If someone asks to be added as a friend, I usually do so but I will check their home page. Some people just seem to be collecting friends and do not really contribute much. I do not pander to them.

i am shy to ask to be added. so most times i'll just add friends when i receive a request. i don't mind being 'collected' if that's what they want. like i said earlier, one more friend is better than one more enemy. that said, i do hope that fellow mylotters send me a friend request because they are really interested to become a friend. cheers ;]

yes i enjoy talking to people too. it's nice to be able to share our thoughts. it's even nicer when i get opinion from others about an issue that's bothering me. i think i should spend some time exploring mylot. two boo boos in a short time is really nothing to be proud of. see you around ;p

hi friend
i understand your concerning. I have been a mylotter for a week.and i have made 117 friends on mylot community.I am very excited on this.I think a big part of friends are friendly, honest, trustworthy.I am pride i could have these wonderful friends here.
About the friends request, i should say i sent more than i received. But i have my standard to choose who could be my friend.so i know who will accpet me as his friends when i sent the friend request to him. checking them firstly, i think it is necessary to me.
Of course,i hope to make good friend with you, too.I hope we will suport each other more in the future.
good luck

wow that's a huge number of friends in such a short time. i've been here for more than a year by now. guess i am just slow in reacting. even slower in my posting speed. i've resolved to be more active in mylot and try to respond to every discussion started by my friends. it's nice to know that mylot is a big supportive community. thanks for your kind encouragements. ;]

Hello, applefreak!
I don't find it ridiculous, nor am I laughing at you. I think it's common, people take some time until they can know every function of myLot. I guess you should not be afraid of sending out friend requests. At every discussion, I send one for somebody. If they don't accept, there's no problem. After all, they have all the rights to turn my request down. But if they do accept, I'll be constantly responding to their discussions.
And here goes another friend request, this time for you. I'll understand if you prefer to turn it down.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Hello Applefreak, I'm kind of new here and I'm still learning new things all of the time. Its not like they go out of their way to explain any of the features here.
I'm sure they understand and if not, they will when they read this!
Cheers, Tianna

well you've got more posts than me. but i think i joined mylot for a longer time. i wasn't too active in the beginning. it's kind of disheartening to see my earnings rise today then fall tomorrow. i've learnt since then about the quality of my posts. so now i know a little more about mylot. sure hope to learn more as the day goes by. cheers ;p
