XML on website

I want to put a slideshow on my website. I found a slideshow program but have never used one before. Is XML a typical entension for slideshows on webpages?

I am not sure. I have only ever made wav, or mpg.. or whatever that is compatible with windows media player. XML sounds maybe like you need a special player for it, but I'm not sure.

I don't think it has to do with other programs it has to do with internet, like Firefox, Mozilla or IE. I think it is compatible with all of them. I would hate to put it on my site to find that only 1/2 the people looking could see it. Sorry if I confused you. Sometimes I confuse myself.
