When did you know they were gone?

Kids seem to grow up so fast. I have four and I can recall all their births. Even though I was in the military for three of them I was blessed to be there for each delivery. I was the first to hold all my children. Very blessed for that. When my eldset daughter looks at me sometimes and says, "I love you Daddy," I can't ever see the day when she will go off and be, well, gone. From some of those who have been there, when did you know that children had grown up and were going to leave the nest now? How did that make you feel?

That is great you were able to be there for all their births. I have 9 years before my little one will be grown up and ready to move out. It is a very scary thought for me, kind of would like to keep her young forever. Hope those who have been there will tell their stories.
