I think most of us are pretty intelligent and good with words and spelling. However, I want to know what word or words do you ALWAYS misspell or mistype?
I didn't realize it until I joined mylot.. but my "favorite" word to mistype is "firend"... I mean "friend". I KNOW how to spell it.. but for some reason it always comes out as "firend". The other word is "weird" I can never remember if the freekin "i before e rule" applies to that one or not, so it usually comes out "wierd" If not for my Firefox browser (automatic spell check) I am not sure if I would ever catch these typos
SO what is your favorite word to mistype or misspell?
(I am going to bed now.. but will answer during the day tomorrow)

Definately! Oops! Definitely! And the rule you are referring to is I before E except after C!

I do that one wrong too!
Have you ever heard of the comedian Brian Regan??
He does a whole bit about I before E... it's hysterical
He talks about being a kid in school and being badgered by his teacher.. his version of the rule goes like this:
I before E except after C and when sounding like A as in neighbor and weigh and on weekends and holidays and all throughout May and you'll always be wrong no matter WHAT you say" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxenUzZPFiQ He's hysterical!

I have a tendancy to transpose many letters. And then sometimes I hit the key next to the one I want. I do think we need a spell check here. I am really a perfect speller, but an awful typist.

I tend to misspell a lot of things wrong but only while on the computer. I think I'm a really good speller while I am writing it by hand but while im on the computer I will start typing really fast and forget where some letters are or mistake one letter for the one beside it. Yesterday, I wrote a discussion about shows and I kept spelling show as shoe becuase the 'e' is right beside the 'w'. That is my worst habbit with words.

egads, mine is thier for their, form for from, actually any of those words with ie or ia chances are I am going to get the rule wrong. Some days my finger and brain connections are just not connecting at all. Thank goodness for spell check!

I do "hte" often instead of the. I mix up 'd' and 'g' a lot too...like I'll type ming instead of mind or ang instead of and. One thing I do a lot is I'll hit the = key instead of backspace when I make a mistake so I'll end up with a word like "misti=ype" lol.

I'm pretty good with my typing and spelling. Except the words gaurantee (which should be spelled guarantee) and exercize which is obviously spelled exercise.
What drives me crazy is when I am speaking and I say the word supposedly. I can spell it just fine but when I say it I exchange a B for the D and say supposeABLY. GRR! If I don't slow my speech down before I say the word I do it every time!

LOL. I definitely used to spell deinately until someone pointed it out and I also like you spell friend firend quite often. Also I type aslo sometimes too. Lucky you I haven't got spellcheck so I just hazard a guess and if it is a really big word will put in brackets (probably spelt wrong sorry) My friends have got used to all my typos now and my best ones always appear in discussion headers too. Ellie :D

Yep some of yours get me quite often as well. The browser Firefox has a built in spell check that underlines your misspellings for you (however if you type a real word by accident.. form=from.. it won't pick up on that.. I wish it had grammar check too
BTW in this response alone... I had 8 typos that Firefox caught before I sent the response You can download the browser for free at www.mozilla.com

I always struggle to spell "definitely" because I spell it "definetely" for some reason, but realise when the firefox spell checker kicks into action.

I mistype a lot of words,my first language is not english,so I use a dict when I am typing. :) Is that funny, dizzblnd?
I learn english by watching american movies or series, sometimes I read books. So I can hear,I can say,but it is difficulty for me to spell.
Oh,I got it,it is difficulty for me to spell AUSTRALIA.I always spell it as "arstrelia"
(I use dict to test every word when I finished my response,so I can not respond more than 10 discussions a day.)

I think this and other sites like it are a great place to connect and learn the English language.. good for you and others like you

I don't know why, but I always have problems with the 'a' , I mean I type it before or after its correct position, for example: 'bga' or 'abg' to say 'bag' in spanish 'la' to say 'al' or 'al' to say 'la' ...and some other words.. but of course I realiza that (most of the times) and I correct the mistake.

I alwasy, or almost alwasy, misspell alwasy, do you ever misspell alwasy.. I believe my fingers are dyslexic as everytime that I type "always" it comes out alwasy.. It is to the point that when I try and spell check any of my posts, it is beginning to look natural to me.. I do many, many typos but this is the one that I always do for sure..
