Low energy... Lethargic...

I am sure every one of us have felt that way one day or another.
The low energy levels could be a result of consecutive late nights. Or insomia where you cannot sleep at night. Or even working late into the night and starting early again the next day.
On days where you are feeling super low energy or super lethargic, what do you do to boost your energy levels to get thru the day?

yes that's exactly what i'm feelign right now. i'm recovering from a bout of nasty flu. my whole body is aching like i was beaten up. ;[
on days like this i'd go for some form of energy boast. red bull is a favourite as it has high sugar level and caffeine. gives me a boast everytime. but i try not to take it as it is really sweet. i love the taste but fear the consequence.

Well, like I mentioned in the first post. Red Bull came up with a new version. The sugarless one in a light blue can.
It is much much better than the previous few versions!
And very good when served really chilled!
You should try it some time!

actually the sugarless one is not exactly a new thing. it's just they redo the packaging. i've tried all the versions of red bull. still like the original one best. maybe it's got to do with the nostalgia. maybe it's just the sugar high it gives me. ;p

Yes, lack of good sleep can bring down your energy levels by making you lethargic. A good way to increase theose enegy levels is to do a light exercise. If you find that difficult to do try deep breathing for a few minutes , you will see the difference.

I tried those before. It is only good for a few minutes after the "work out". Once you settle down, you will just turn to automatic sleep mode.
The other technique I learnt is to do some simple stretching exercises. Well, there was this time where I was so tired after so many days of late night work, I did some stretching to keep me a wake.
And I stretched. And I stretched. And I stretched some more. SO much so, I actually pulled a muscle!
Luckily I was in my cubicle and no one saw. I hurts like crap for the next few days. The pain sure kept me a wake the rest of the day. Including the few after. And all the nights in-between too!

I try to fake being happy and it begins to be true. I fake a smile and by the end of the day it is a real smile.

I dunno about smiles that could help perk me up.
I tried once to smile just thinking happy thoughts during a meeting with some of my top management bosses.
I was so relaxed thinking happy thoughts that I actually fell a sleep during the meeting. WITH A BIG GRIN on my face too!
Sigh... that was, well, you can guess, the worst impression I ever left on my bosses. One thing for sure, when ever they see me, they will be chuckling cos of the incident in the meeting. I became infamous over night in the office.

well, if I can I get rest to re-charge.
but of course that is not always possible.
usually at work I'd be surviving on pure adrenalin.
and i could work crazy hours for consecutive days late into the early morning for a week or so before utterly collapsing.:)
Then there is always coffee, which is as far as I go. no energy drinks or caffine pills for me haha.

I can't speak from a man's point of view, but as a woman, I use to get lethargic every month for a couple of days.
It went with the monthly cycle I guess, when that would pass I'd be hit with an energy load and couldn't even sleep, I could run 90 to nothing on four hours of sleep, then every thing would balance out for a week or so and I'd be back to normal until the next month.
And there was nothing I could do about it. I had to just wait it out.
I wish they had those energy drinks back then. They might have helped.

I drink energy drinks, diet soda, and water. I also find sometimes if I can do a little walking that helps.

I usually hit the assorted energy drinks out there. I hate the taste of most of them, the 5/6 Hour Energy "shots" are pretty good.
I really can't RECOMMEND them...they either tend to do nothing for me OR make me feel like my heart is about to explode. Either way I'm hardly very productive.
The BEST thing (though not always realistic) would be to try and get the proper amount of sleep. I know, I know - easier said than done!

I know what you mean. Much as I want to get the proper amount of sleep, some times, it is just impossible.
But when I do get the chance, I try to.
I know of some drinks that will cause heart palpitations after drinking them. Like a huge amounts of extra concentrated expresso mixed with a huge quantities of green tea. Not only did it caused my heart to palpatate, it made me realy cranky as well!
