The strangest cat birthing story I have ever heard.

Sophie is the cat next door, Leopold her owner and I are friends. Sophie had two kittens on Sunday before Leopold even knew, he found them and they were both dead still in the birthing sac. he put her in a box and she had two more, he comes into my place and say she only had two kittens because two died, I go back to see them then I hear a cry and say to Leopold that is coming from another kitten and the kitten is not in that box, it is comes from around your bed, he looks and sure even he finds another one in the corner near the bed, so he puts it in the box, while he is doing that she has another one. So although she had six in total two died. But that is still not the strange part, She gave birth on Sunday, and on Monday he comes back again to tell me he couldn't sleep all Sunday night. Sophie wouldn't stay in her box, she took all her kittens put them under his blankets and hopped in bed with him, There was him and five cats in the bed,. I have never heard of that before, have you heard of a cat doing anything like that? tell me some of your animal birthing stories

Generally, most female cats put their kittens in a hidden spot, but there are some exceptions, and in cases like that, you have to be the mother.

Hi winterose, We have a cat who are like that before...We have a place for her and her kittens. She got 2 kittens that time and we always found her relocating the kittens in our closet..We tried to bring them back in their original place but after an hour or two, we will find it again there! I do know what's in their mind, maybe they feel more secure when they are with plenty of clothes..LOL! My mom finally locked the closet and she was forced to just stay in their box!

oh I know closets are normal places, but wanting the kittens in the bed at night when the man next door goes to bed, that is the new one for me.

Honey that is not that unusual. I have had cats give birth in two day also. We did have a cat that put her kittens in my sons bed and 3 smothered before morning even though my son wasn't home that night so watch them carefully. xoxoxox

i have had cats for 25 years and I have heard and had cats that had their kittens in the bed, but never any who already had them in the box, but being night time decided that the whole family should be sleeping in the bed, with the master, that is fine really cute.

Not unusual at all. Some cats want to be near someone when they are giving birth and some hide. We had two cats once that had kittens on the same day. One of them hid and the other cat found her babies and brought them out. We had like 18 kittens and the mamas shared feeding duty.

she had the babies, they were in her box, but at bedtime she took them in bed with her and the man next door, that is the part that I find unusual.

Hey Winterose,I had a cat years ago that gave birth to two kittens on a saturday afternoon. (in the house, in her bedding box) Exactly 24 hours later, she had another one. All kittens were healthy and she was a great mom. Like you I thought it pretty strange. New mother cats are not sure what is going on when experiencing their first labor pains. I think that is why they don't want to be alone. Great story you shared

she is okay during the day to keep her kittens in the box, it is just at night, she wants them in the bed, I think it is really cute too.

I never witnessed a cat having kittens, but growing up again on a farm. I got the joy of finding baby kittens in the oddest of places. A mama cat decided to have kittens in our attic/extra rooms. I didn't know at the time, and had to go up there to clean it up. I threw a show down the stairs and heard a loud meow, it freaked me out. I ran down the stairs and found a kitten in one of the shoes. Then I found other kittens in all parts of the attic, a total of 6. Our beagle Ladybug, shocked all of us. We didn't even know she was pregnant, until I noticed a puppy hanging from her. It really freaked me out. She used my husband's loveseat as the birthing spot. It took some doing to move her from the couch to a box. I think it's cute that your friend's cat took all her babies and jump in bed with him. She knew that they would be safe and warm. Glad he couldn't sleep, or he might have rolled over on them in his sleep.

Wow—that is odd. So I have no story for you- but we have inherited a stray cat. She is the nicest loving cat--- but she is pregnant! Never dealt with this before. We have an indoor cat- she is fixed. I tried to let the stray in but my cat hates her! So for the time being- Tabby (the stray) stays on the front porch I also let her in the house but have to watch my other cat. I’m pretty sure that we will get Tabby fixed and keep her- as I have falling in love with her. I am scared about the kittens though- We both work and I’m sure Tabby will have the kittens when we aren’t home. I hope she has them in the box.

it is okay in the box outside for now as the weather is good, but if I were you, I would take them in and confine them to their own room away from you other cat, maybe your bedroom or something like that.

my dad had a Siamese that insisted on giving birth on his pillow! he tried moving her twice to the box that was set up for her with blankies and all comfy, but nope, she just kept struggling to get back on his pillow lol! so after giving birth on the pillow, on the bed and then the initial cleaning and feeding of the kittens, she ALLOWED (with much vocal berating of how rude and pushy he was being to her majesty) him to put her the babies and of course her new pillow, into the box! boy she was a talker too, and you could tell when she wasnt happy about something you were doing, cause she would get that "cat cussing" sound to her meows! and if she ever got scolded for something (jumping on the counters etc.) she would walk away but be back-talking (and you just know cussing and being a general smart mouth) all the way out of the room LOL! little booger, i miss her.

I have three Siamese right now, and one is referred to as "Princess" as she knows when I bring home canned whipped cream and whipping cream in the carton. When I use the canned whipped cream she HAS to have her own little dish of it (she's as bad as I am about loving canned whipped cream LOL!). As for the stuff in the carton, I have to warm it in the microwave for exactly 9 seconds before I serve it to her in my bed. That is her winter time custom and people have absolute hysterics over my doing this for Murphy. But if she doesn't get her canned cream or whipped cream she throws a tantrum! When she was a little kitten she would wait for us to have our hot cereal in the winter time. We would have it with milk and a splash of whipping cream. She would sit on my chair at the table and wait for my to "serve" her my breakfast. I tried giving her her own dish of milk and cream but it had to be out of my dish. Talk about spoiled!! LOL, but she is the love of my life. She is a 14 year old lady now and is just as spoiled as the first day she came home with me.

Gosh! this is sooo strange! Putting all of them under his blankets and she also hoped in and slept? Well maybe she wanted her kitties to taste the warmth she gets when she spends a night on the master's bed. I can picture five cats and him curled all in the same bed.........he could have taken a picture of that scenerio. Heheheeeeeeeee! I dont have any animal birthing story except that I know cat hide their kitties in a secrete place. This was strange indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it is an strange but so cute story, I have heard of cats having kittens in the bed, but never taking them out of the box and then putting them in the bed only at night with the master went to bed himself.

yeah..i've been experienced this a lot..actually with my fren's cat..well we were roomate so it kinda consider i've experienced it to..so anyway..we think that the cat n her kittens is cold so thats why she'll find a place that warm to keep her kittens...because when my fren put some clothes in her box she;ll just keep her kittens in the clothes

I had a cat (Precious) that actually tried to give birth laying next to me in the bed while i was asleep. I woke up and tried to leave but she sounded so pitiful that i let her lay her head on my lap until she finished having the four kittens.

I have never heard of anything like this, but it sure sounds like it would be cute o be in bed with five cats. My husband and I would enjoy the heck out o a cat with four kittens. We both love cats.

it is very dangerous, these are little bits of things, a human body weight if you happen to rollover on them will kill them.

Yeah i know I couldn't believe it when i went out side and I found the cat and the 2 dogs all in the dog kennel and there was 4 kittens in there with them too!!!! But the cat and the dog are very very close and if you think it is strange that the cat had her kittens in the kennel with the dogs you would have spun out if you had of seen it went the dog had a pup... the dog would be laying there with her pup suckling on a boob and there on the other boob was the cat it was so funny wish I had of taken photo's of it! these pair are really strange I must say..... hehehe

maybe it is postpartum depression...the cat is worried about her other babies dying. she already lost 2. she is being overprotective with other 4 and keeping a careful watch over them.
