I used to work with our emergency medical services as a paramedic. Now I conduct first aid and safety training to any person interested to learn how to handle and respond to any emergency. Just curious if anybody here in myLot have witnessed any emergency like vehicular accident, heart attack, etc. Were you able to do something? If so, what did you do?

I've seen a few things. One car accident that I saw I called 911 and stayed and talked to the woman who was stuck in her car.
A friend of mine had a seizure. I did nothing (we were at our EMS junior squad meeting!).
This girl split her head on the gravitron, I just layed her down and head a towel on her had until EMS got there (about a minute or so as they were on stand-by).
With my kids, we've had 2 minor head injuries (stitches and staples), allergic reactions, finger/tape measure accident (stitches), and an almost broken nose.
I'm thinking of going to back to school for EMT.

Thank you for sharing. I guess knowledge even on basic first aid procedures would come in handy anytime. I think you will agree with me that accident may happen anytime and anywhere. Well, being an EMT is a very rewarding career. Best to you and goodluck!

I think there are times that no matter what we do, we cannot control the whole situaion. What is important is we give it our best. I'm sure that as long as we give it our best we will always be able to cope up with whatever we do or whatever we feel. Best to you!

Not too long ago I witnessed a car chase where the feeling people crashed and overtunred on the InterState Highway. I stopped and help the Police pull a victim from her burning overturned car. I was called a hero but I only did what I felt I needed to do then.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well, Grandpa Bob, I know that what you did was ordinary for you and sort of a natural thing to do when someone is in trouble. But I am very sure that for sure you have done a great deal of heroism! Saving a persons life is something that we should be proud of and it is something no money can buy! Best to you!

Just witnessed accident yesterday... wet roads three cars... one guy trapped in a truck (pickup) that was probably not wearing his safety belt.
There was already paramedics working to get him out and cop cars all over the place.
People should slow down and wear their seat belts.!
Thanks

My younger brother has had two people die directly from not wearing seatbelts and I have told him straight-up I can't feel anything for them... I can feel his loss for losing a friend but that should teach him not to do anything stupid (like racing at 110mph without any seatbelt on get thrown over 100 feet out of the car and expect to live).
I don't mean to sound cold but there are ways for us to protect ourselves and if we don't utilize them and then we get injured or die... I can't accept that.
Thanks

I agree with that but I don't think that is EVER going to happen. I see NASCAR drivers going over 200MPH and Top Fuel Dragsters going over 300MPH and have horrific crashes and the driver walks away. Why? Because of the safety equipment involved.
Now to I advocate doing 100MPH down the road, no. But I do say that we should do everything possible (including keeping withing the speed limit and obeying signs and not tailgating) to keep ourselves as safe as possible.
Another plus...
By slowing down to ~45-50MPH you are getting the most bang for your buck when it comes to fuel consumption.
As for my car:
45MPH - 32MPG
50MPH - 31MPG
55MPH - 30MPG
60MPH - 29MPG
65MPH - 28MPG
70MPH - 27+MPG
75MPH - 26MPH
So slowing from 75 to 55MPH is a savings of 4MPG... quite significant! I use my cruise control a LOT more now to make sure I keep at a constant speed to increase fuel efficency to the max... of course that is getting off subject but slow down... safe fuel.
Thanks
Zelo

You are right zelo. Seatbelts play an important role in road safety. You can never tell that an accident may happen and when a person is not wearing any seatbelt, a lot of possibilities could happen which may lead to external and internal injuries. Do take care and best to you!
