It looks like you have two issues here. One is improving your game, and the other is keeping up with the pros. Improving your ballhandling and defensive skills is a quick way to address both things. Work on dribbling at different speeds, high/low dribbles, dribbling with both hands at the same time, bounce pass and chest pass accuracy, and above all, use your right hand as much as possible. An unselfish player who can handle the ball and create shots for others is always appreciated on the basketball court.
Defense is mostly about hustle and desire. While it takes awhile to learn the nuances of team defense, one on one defense is more about who is willing to put forth the effort to shut down his (or in this case her) assigned player. Take pride in your defense and work constantly to shut down whomever you happen to be guarding. Once you build up a reputation as a defensive specialist, you will be accepted on any team.
