Have your eating habits changed since having children?

Now that my is older she wants to eat everything I eat and drink everything I drink. So I have really started having to watch what I eat and drink around her. I've cut back on buying junk food to snack around on and try to get healthy things like fruit and veggies. And just last night I told hubby that I was going to have to cut out drinking soda all together. Last night when I had a soda with my meal my daughter would not leave me alone about it and wanted to drink soda too. Of course soda is the last thing in the world I want her to drink. Hubby kind of got onto me and said I can't change the way I eat just because she wants to eat like me. And I can kind of understand his point. But the thing is I feel like I need to be setting a good example for her and I need to be healthier for myself as well. Have you all changed the way you eat since having kids? Do you think it's wrong to change the way you eat because of your kids?

We generally eat fairly healthy anyway. We really limit the amount of junk food we have in our house. But yes, I have changed my eating habits a little bit in the last year or so, since Elliott has been big enough to start asking for what I'm having. Knowing that I will be feeding it to my 2 year old as well, really makes me stop to think if I really need those granola bars with the extra additives, or whatever else it is. I'm on a lower carb diet now (completely doctor approved), and that makes it even harder for me, because it makes it hard for me to convince Elliott that even though Mommy isn't eating the bread or pasta doesn't mean he shouldn't.

yes, I eat more sweets and a lot more at a time. I use to hardly eat anything then I got pregnant and realize how good food was. I eat all the time now.

Hi cynddvs! I have no children of my own but whenever my nieces and nephews stay with us on weekends or on vacations, I do change the way me and my husband eat. We both agree to set a good example of healthy eating with our nieces and nephews and because of that, even when they are back to their own homes, my husband and I maintained our healthy eating lifestyle. Take care and God Bless!

No, not really.. I try to eat healthy, that is my agenda. Even when I was pregnant, I ate healthy.. My kids are the same way, I can't seem to eat anything when they are around. They want what I have.. It is kind of irritating.. So, I usually will buy them nutritious snacks in everything that they eat. That way, they can have their own and still eat healthy..

My kids are the same way. They eat whatever we eat. They don't get special meals. I don't mind if they eat junk food because they are young and extremely active. The only thing that has changed with my eating habits is that I eat less, because my kids keep taking food off my plate. :)

I suppose changing our eating habits is part of parenthood especially if our children are growing. I have a 2 1/2 yr old son and he really wants to have a share of what i am eating. he would say, " mama, what's that? can i have that as well? " as much as possible, i don't let him see if i am eating juck foods...but if ever he does, i tell him it's yet time for him to eat those kind of foods. if he's grown up already, i'll let him eat it. fortunately, he won't ask for it anymore...sometimes, he will. if that happens, i give him a little amount of that food that he wants just to satify his urge and i would make a follow up...i'll tell him again and again, that it's not for him...
