Does anyone ride their bike to places anymore as a form of transportation?

Well, I figured I could start a good discussion about this topic. I work at a YMCA pool for my summer job and one kid rides his bike to work at the pool. With the current cost of gas I don't blame him. I was wondering how many people actually ride their bike places (not just riding for fun/exercise)?

There are a lot of people where I live who ride their bikes places, to work, the store, where ever they have to go. I walk almost everywhere I have to go. Today I walked about 5 miles to the store and back. I'm really thinking I would like a bike!

Well thats great. Around here most people drive everywhere. I own a bike and I'd like to take it places but I will need to build up my leg strength before I travel very far...
