my mom has decided not to let my little brothers sleep in the afternoon and so they sleep really early at night, about 9 to 10.
and i think there are some good and bad points in that arrangement...
good
- they sleep early
- mom gets to rest earlier
bad
- they are really cranky
- one usually sleeps immedetly after dinner
- i get to spend less time with them...due to school..
so what do you think?
is this good for the kids?

My daughter is 17 months old and she takes a nap every morning far a few hours. She is in bed by 8 pm most nights, but some nights she is not in bed until 9 or 10.
My son is 8 years old. He has not taken a nap during the day for about 4 years now. He goes to bed around 9 or 10 on most nights, but in the summertime and on weekends he sometimes stays up a bit later.

I guess it's good for your brother to take some sleep after lunch, the question is, how old is your brother?

It depends on the kids really. Do they seem more energized and refreshed through the day? My children's bed times during school is 9:30 for the 11 yr. old and 9:00 for the 8 yr. old. They wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed most days.
Now that its summer they stay up until about 10:00 or so, they tried to pull an all nighter (they were going to have a contest to see who could stay up the latest)but they both were asleep before 11:00....LOL

My children sleeps at about 9 to 10 pm too. I think that it is good to let them have an early dinner before heading off to sleep shortly after that. Offcourse with some interactions with me before heading off to sleep. A short story during bedtime serves as a kind of bonding between us too. After they go to sleep, I can have some personal time to relax as well as have some time my husband. Do set some couple time in your routine too as a healthy husband and wife relationship is a good foundation for a happy family.

Up until my son was around 7 he went to bed by 8pm every night. After that time he went to bed at 9pm until he was 14 and from then on he's been going to bed at 10pm on school nights and later on weekends.
They will get used to it soon and quit being cranky. They need their rest to for their brains to grow and to help them learn. It's just that it's new for them right now.
