Mangosten can be grown in the norther part of the Philippines but it doesn't give much yield and it has smaller foliage than that of what are sowed in Mindanao. Rambuttan is somewhat vegetation friendly. It can at least stand the Manila Pollution. Longan can be grown in the Philippines, too but it only gives good yield when planted in Mindanao like Makilala, Kidapawan, Mlang, Kabacan both in North Cotabato in the heart of Mindanao. Durian is now introduced in Northern Luzon. One of the most sensitive jungle fruit but it grows in the southern Luzon areas already. Marang grows wherever you sow it but it depends on the characteristic of the soil. I love all these tropical fruits. I took advantage being a Filipino from Mindanao to eat til I drop the harvests that we have from the south. We grow not only these fruits but variety of expensive supermarket sold fruits. Davao Sweet Pomelo is an alter ego of the Davao Death Squad...right! DDS vs DSP. I indulge on fruit eating while having break. To enjoy the short leave of absence from congested metro I snap into a close family's depot of fruits. I eat varieties of "a taste of mindanao" from Durian, Marang, Longan, Mangosten, Rambuttan, Dragon Fruit, Pomelo, Lychees name it!!! I don't feel like eating bananas in Mindanao. So guys, be there on the next Kadayawan this coming August in Davao. Feel the spirit of Mindanao :)

I have seen photo of the fruits you mention in my son's book. I do not know the taste of fruit.I only know pomello which is very common in my country.Rambutan is also found in some part of India but people do not cultivate Rambutan. It grows in forest. Well Once I saw Dragon fruit in a Department Store but I dom't try it because I donot know how to it.Can you tell me about the taste of the fruit. In India mango, lichy, oranges, sweetlime, banana, apple, grapes, pomegranate watermelon musk melon, custard apple, guava, apricot, plum are very common. Apple grows in himalayan region. Oranges grows both in mountain region and plateau of central India.Mango grows all over the country but Alphanso and Langra are some famous variety. I like Darjleeing oranges over other plateu oranges they have exotic taste.I really love banana.

How to eat the Dragon Fruit? You wash it first and then slice it before peeling. The taste is sweet. Succulent sweet and a bit of biting little sour that you can savor.
