he says that every time that when he turns on his computer, that it takes him forever to actually log onto windows. He has a laptop computer, and it is vista OS and he says that he's always getting this error message saying something about his hard disk. Well, he did do an error check on his hard disk, and it went through, and it's still the same. and he said that he's also tried doing a system restore on his computer, but, he says that it won't let him. does anybody know how he could fix his computer? He hasn't had it that long, actually, since this February.

Hi there ashly, first of all computer can get all sorts of problems and it can be hard to diagnose why you are getting errors. I think the best possible solution for you is to back up everything you need e.g: Music, Document files, and any data you need. Burn them to a cd or dvd disk. Get all the drivers and put them on a disk e.g: Graphics card, sound card etc. What you will need is a bootable copy of windows vista or even windows xp. You will then need to edit the bios by pressing del key on start up and change the first boot device to the disk drive. Now your windows disk will load, you then can format your harddrive and reinstall a fresh copy of windows. Then connect to the internet, reinstall all programs and drivers and get all available windows updates. It can take a while to do but it is the best solution for any major pc problem as it simply formats everything then reinstalls windows. All errors and viruses or whatever will disappear including your program and files hence why you need to back up. If you cant format your hard disk by using a bootable windows disk then there is a internal problem with you hard drive and it will need to be replaced. Thank you

Check if there is a bad sector on his laptops hard disk. Or, if there are any conflicting hardware installations which may cause others to malfunction. Try also reformatting the laptop. Or better yet, have it checked by the shop where you bought it. Maybe there's a warranty or something.

First of all, check hard disk for bad sectors. Or, check if there is a conflict between the installed drivers which may cause the other hardware to malfunction. Else, try re-formatting the hard disk. Hope this helps.

HE'S tried to re-format the computer, and it won't even let him. It says that he has to create a system restore point first, before he does that. and than he does try to set up a system restore point, and it says that this is not allowed. wow. that's insane!
