I prefer to use both, depending on the needs. If I don't want others to listen, I use a headset. If there is no one else around or if I am tired of using a headset, I use speakers.

I use both...If I need to talk to my friends or relatives living abroad I use the headset, but when I listen to music I use the speaker. So far, most of the time I use the speaker because there's no day that I didn't listen to music, I don't have that many friends who live abroad so I don't use my headset that much.

in general it is better to use the speakers instead of headsets because too much exposure to headsets will reduce your hearing capacity and that will not be a very good thing for your body. It has been observed that people who have high exposure to earphones headsets and other gadgets tend to listen at a very high-pitched. They cannot hear properly if spoken softly and I think this is not something which is very encouraging. So it is better to use the speakers instead of the headsets if it is not compulsory.

I use headset when I'm talking with my husband or with friends at Yahoo messenger and Skype. I prefer to use headset though I have built in speakers here at my laptop because I would like to have privacy whenever I have a call. But when my kids are talking with their dad, I unplug my headset so all of them would hear what their dad is saying. Happy postings. HUGZ.
