do you try to keep your fingernails long?

i guess this topic applies more to females than males... recently, I had really long fingernails cos I hadn't cut them for a month or so. I had nicely manicured them, and when the polish faded, I had self-manicured (added polish to them) again. somehow i think manicured nails look nicer long (you can see more colour) so I tried to endure and not cut them. However, it started getting harder and harder to type. especially with the increased mylotting that i was doing these days. So I cut their length into almost half, such that i can see some whites but not much. have you ever experienced this dilemna about whether or not to cut your fingernails? a dilemma between vanity and convenience. :)

No, not that I would intend to. As I type on the computer all the time, I find it quite annoying to have long fingernails when I type and they tend to slow me down. So I just keep them short and neat and sometimes I would paint horrible colors *laughs* on them just for fun!

My nails have always been long ever since I was a kid. But if one breaks, I have to file them all down to match, because I don't want to have one nail shorter than the others. lol. But usually I let them grow. The problem that I have with my nails is when the polish comes off. When I see it starting to come off, I'll just remove the polish and repaint.

Nah, I don't. I am a guy so this would be the answer for most in my gender too. I think for guys, unless you are playing guitar regularly, you are likely to keep your nails short (at least assuming you are not too lazy to cut them once in a while!! )

Yes, I do but I find that when they get to a certain length that they start to split at the sides of the nail and usually under the quick of the nail. Also, it is harder to type fast when they are longer so I keep them a little longer than 1/4 inch past the quick of my nail. That way they still look pretty and feminine but I can still type relatively quickly and accurately. My husband loves long nails but I have always worn mine long even before I ever even met him.

Well there was I time I grew my nails long and believe me, it hurt when it chips or breaks off. Hehe. So I decided to just wear it short and I haven't regretted this decision. I prefer short nails now and there are a lot of benefits in sporting short nails... like being able to type faster. =)

Long nails look better when manicured as opposed to short ones. But keeping nails short is a hygienic practice. Long nails can adsorb and accumulate dust, support bacterial growth etc and when you eat food with bare hands, can make you ill. I try keeping it short; short is tidy, long is stylish. I'm keeping it short because I stress more on tidiness than styles.

Nah.. I'm one of those girls who dislike manicures (because it takes too long). I very much prefer short fingernails to long ones. I think it's more hygienic to keep short fingernails too. The only thing I like about long fingernails is it makes my fingers look longer. My fingers are short. However, I think I still prefer 'convenience' to 'vanity'.

I would love long nails, unfortunately mine are really soft and break easily.I sometimes will go to a nail salon and have acrylics put on but that tends to be expensive so I really cant afford it most of the time.

I have long fingernails too. I can't imagine my fingres without them, I feel my hands look more stylish with manicured nails. I do not have any problems typing with my long finguernails, I think you'll use on this.

I would keep my fingernails long for opening soda cans:) However, I often cut them because I can do my work more smoothly with short fingernails.

I used to have really short nails back in elementary coz i had a habit of biting it. In high school and college, I got conscious because all my friends had pretty nails so I started growing mine too. I was able to sustain it until I got married. i enjoyed having french tips done on my nails a lot too. When I got married, I had to cut it back to being short as I always scratched my husband accidentally. All the more when I had a baby. I never had it long ever since.

Hello there, I hardly leave my fingernails grow too long and don’t find long nails look pretty. So I always prefer to leave it 3mm long – my ideal length. LOL Honestly, I don’t like them too short either as I find them look slightly unattractive. Again, 3mm is just right for me. Further more, it is not wise to leave the nails too long from the hygiene point of view.

i have always had long nails. what i do it to rub hand cream everytime i wash clothes, dishes, cook. message in round motion on the nails, doesn't matter which cream u use it can be body butter, moisteriser, body cream , anything as long as its creamy and a bit oily! get used to doing this and ull get permenently long nails. i have a remedy aswell, put a full egg in a cup, rub a lemon on it, throw the lemon ,keep the cup that has the egg and lemon juice in room temprerture for a day. take the egg out and put ur nails in the liquid for 20 minutes atleast twise a week and wash them. the acid in the lemon and the egg shell make nails hard and healthy!

I do try to keep my finger nails long. I think that longer nails look more elegant than short nail (especially since I have a slender hand). But sometimes I have to cut it down to a nub because I want to apply the acrylic nails; it's difficult for me to decide whether or not I should do it, but I always up end up filing them down anyways. :[
