Through my personal experiences and ALOT of other people I have spoken to about college in the UK - It seems that it is being ran in a very very poor manner, being unorginaized, unhelpful and misleading. Yes fair enough it's to get you in to better places but the mothods of teaching and the tutors themselves is just appauling. The college I went (no names mention) was especially bad in the teaching aspects, the tutors would rather sit and talk to you about their lifes and what they did in the weekend rather than helping with the work. I've just seen and heard alot of stuff like this, I don't know what you may think, why don't you tell me? =)

For sixth form I still go to a school instead of a college - doing A-levels in the top 2 years of a school seems to work much better than going to a seperate college. I think many of the colleges are trying to appeal too much to young people by making stuff easy so they don't hire great staff - the people they hire are fun but don't know tonnes about their subject or how to relate to young people but still stretch them and teach them. You can have a great education in the UK..

When I was in college, the teachers / tutors weren't the problem it was other students who just took the piss all the time. They clearly didn't want to be there and tried to spend as much time as possible avoiding the lessons or messing around in them. There were times that my teachers had to go into the college common room and literally drag them out of there! It was beyond a joke, especially when in a class of 10 to 15 there was maybe 3 people who actually wanted an education. I've never experienced college being unhelpful or unorganized, but university was a different matter! So many hoops to jump through just to get basic information! Really frustrating! I was a student rep as well and in meetings with the powers that be they still didn't have a clue and always had someone else they had to refer matters through....though it doesn't get much better in employment!

I guess it depends on where you are. You get the idiots wherever you go. I do see the point in enrolling to go to college if the students don't even want to learn anyway, why would they do it? =/ or is it just another way to stay in education to free - load from EMA and allowences... lol...
You had a good college, lucky you haha, where did you go? =)
I've heard those kinda things about UNI too! My friend was telling me about the stress and how some thing seem so irrelevant.. But I guess it's having that vast general knowleage of the subject you chose..
