Many here in our country drives like the roads are getting away. They do overtakes all the time and loves tailgating. I consider myself a good driver. I don't violate traffic signs, I let pedestrians cross and most of all I don't speed up too much. How can you consider yourself a good driver? What are the factors wherein you can declare yourself a good driver?

Yes, I do. I use my turn signals whenever switching lanes and I don't tailgate. I also use my rear view mirror and look over my shoulder when switching lanes.

Thanks for the response. Those are the things that most bad drivers disregard.

I consider myself a good defensive driver. See to it that I dont change lanes on the lines that is not broken AND I make sure I mantain my speedlimit to what is advised. Like here in Fort Bonifacio, there's a policy that we should keep 30kph within the cAMP. Some do speed up to 40kph, even though it somehow exagerating to think but one thing we can all consider ourselves as a good driver is following traffic rules/signs. And probably when I drive, I consider the lives of the people I am driving for and myself as well.

yeah, but even you are a good driver/ or defensive one... drivers around you are so reckless - u are still bound of having an accident so we all should be very careful.

That's nice, considering you're driving here in the Philippines. It's great to know that there are still good drivers around here.

I would consider myself an "adequate" driver. I am not a multi-tasker so when I am driving ... I'm driving. I keep the radio off and, if there are others in the car, my conversation with them is limited. If I get involved in listening to the radio, or talking with others, I will focus 98% on that ... which leaves not nearly enough attention for driving. I have learned ... and I am diligent about this ... I can only do one thing at a time ... make it the driving. The factors that I consider are needed to be a good driver are: 1.) alertness 2.) knowledge of the traffic rules/regulations 3.) common sense. I consider one of my brothers-in-law to be one of the best drivers ever. He is always thinking about what he would need to do if something happens while the car is in motion. For example, he knows exactly how he will hit the ditch at any given point should his tire blow. (I think he is one of these "multi-taskers" because he can still carry on a conversation while he is focused on his driving.)

Thanks for the response. I drive with my radio on to keep me awake most of the time especially when driving alone at nights.
