Well recently my cat I had since the cat I had since I was born died. He was actually older then me, he was 20. It just seems like I lost a family member or something. The vet said he died naturally of old age but its still sad.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. No matter how long a pet lives with us, they become part of our hearts and lives. We miss them terribly when they leave. I know your dear cat left a hole in your heart. Don't be afraid to grieve; your loss is real. Time, the great healer, will do the job. Try to remember all the good times you had with your cat. Twenty is a great age; he did very well.
I still miss my kitties, but I try to think of them at the Rainbow Bridge, young and healthy, romping in the grass and chasing the butterflies.

iam so sorry dear, yes it is just like a member of the family. when i lost my first one, i cried for days. so, i can understand your pain. i hope you realise he/she is in pet heaven, playing like he was a young kitten.

Unfortunately our pets have shorter lifespans than we do. I understand your sadness. I have lost long time pets myself. They do become part of your family. Boots was the queen of the house. I got her in 1988 and I had to have her put to sleep last January. She was 19 years old. I got her when I was pregnant with my first child, who is now 19. She was a year old when I got her.
I do miss her terribly, but I have pictures to remind me how much of a part of our lives she was. It gets easier with time, but you'll always remember your friend.

It sounds like he was extremely well cared for and lived to a great age. You have lost a family member! I'm sorry to hear of your loss, and it must be particularly heartbreaking since you've never known life without him.
