How often do you watch TV, and what are your reasons for doing so?Can you go a week without TV? or even a day without watching it?
My great aunt only watches the news she says it's important to know whats going on in the country. But would you believe she doesn't watch world news? She thinks that what ever is going on outside of where we live is not her business, let them deal with there own mess. I think old age is catching up with her if you know what i mean
Some people watch tv only for the news, some to view there favorite game show, Some even watch it all day. Some just like the reality shows.
So what's your reason....

I watch TV to watch sports. I do watch my favorite television shows too such as 24, The Simpsons, Heros, etc. But mainly I watch TV for sports. I watch Football, Basketball, and Baseball (Hockey really isn't my thing).
Absolutly I could go a week without watching TV. I didn't it all the time in College. Heck if I didn't have a TV I would just listen to the games on the radio, or better yet, actually attend the games.

Well it's good to know that you can, but that's because you can find a number of other things to do in your spare time. i can also the the same as you, i teach all day and by the time i get home. I get something to eat, take a shower and then just go to bed. i don't have much time for myself during the week. But thank you for your comment.

I don't have a television right now, and haven't had one for months. I use my laptop to play DVDs and I don't have to put up with "dumbed down shows", commercials, noise and general anxiety stemming from the constant barrage of yelling and screaming.
When I have a TV, I still only use it for DVDs. People ask me "How can you not watch television?"
The answer is simple. "I don't turn it on."
Up to date news comes from the internet, when I am ready to read it. Internet news doesn't have commercials and it's very quiet.
If you get the idea I'm weird, that's okay. Someone might want to try not turning on a television. Your whole experience will change. Families might start talking again. Remember, tv wasn't always 24/7. It went off the air at midnight.
Since when do we need 24/7 news? We don't.
Last words, if you are a couple, take that tv out of your bedroom, or use it for playing DVDs only. Watch what happens.

i don't really think that your weird, because you actually do have a really good point. tv did use to come off at mid night now it's just 24/7. and it has given a lot of families a lot less reason to talk about things and have actual conversations. tv now takes up people family time. everyone at home has there own tv either in their room or the living room.

Most of the time, I just have the TV on for noise since I can't stand the quiet. Haha. But if I am happening to watch it, I tend to watch the old 90s shows. Family Matters, Full House, and the likes. Or some really good shows like CSI: Miami, New York, AND Las Vegas. Haha. I prefer dramatic or comedic shows. The reality shows just aren't cutting it for me.

There are two main times I watch T.V. When I'm writing and it's background noise. I barely even know what's going on on the T.V. I'm just not used to writing in silence as I used to live in a house full of people or a dormitory. Now that I live alone (except for Richard, my cat who's not a noisy creature) I must create noise somehow in order to be creative. T.V. suits that. The other time I watch T.V. is when I eat. I usually schedule eating for around shows I actually enjoy so that I can watch them without being distracted by my computer. Lately though, I've watched more T.V. because of Planet Green. I learn a lot from that channel so it's not so good to have on while trying to write. I usually watch Oxygen or TNT when I'm writing or sometimes the SciFi channel, but a lot of time those shows are too interesting to me as well.
In answer to your second question, I own two televisions. The second one of which is barely on and is located in my bedroom.

thank you for completely answering the questions to my post. i have lent that there are many people who just have on the tv for sound, to add a little noise to the home. and you watch it only when having a meal, two tv's and you don't really watch them? i don't know how you do it, but you do..
thank you for your comment...

My fiance and I will most the time only watch it if we see something we like on, or if we are relaxing in bed. I am sure we could go without it for a week or even a month. Have a Wonderful Day!

I use to watch television a lot before I met my fiance, and now me and her will only watch television from time to time, especially if we are just laying in our bed relaxing before coming to the computers to do some mylotting, unless something we want to see comes on,and then will leave the computers to go watch it,and I know we could go a day without watching television, because we have done that before, but I do not know if we could go a week without it,because it would be really hard, even though we barely watch it.

I too think i can go without Tv for a while because currently i don't have any cable and there are only three channel and i don't really be home to watch them. But sometimes my mother has it on for just back round noise too and also to let people know that we're home because we keep our doors closed.

I love watching tv, it is entertaining and is a part of my daily routine. I like all different types of shows, reality, movies, music channels, documentaries, etc. I mean if I could not watch tv for a day, I would live, but for the most part of it I have to at least watch a littl tv even if it is at the end of the day right before I go to bed.

I'm a tv addict besides computer addict...when I feel tired typing and surfing the net, all I have to do is sit on the sala set and turn on the tv. I used to watch reality shows and games shows in ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN is the largest network in the Philippines.

I watch TV usually because Im bored. I have nothing to do that day so I watch some TV to pass the time away. Its also really calming to watch TV. You dont have to do anything except just sit there and watch your desired TV show. Its something to occupy your time with. I love watching TV and seeing what is going to happen to my favourite characters. Not only can you watch the news, but reality TV, educational shows, cartoons and much more. Whats not fun about TV?
