Okay so my daughter and I were playing together on my computer one day and it just shut down...went into hybernation...never turned on again :P Let me tell you how bad I wanted to pull my hair out. So me and my boyfriend brought it to a computer store only to have them say we had to pay $40 and leave my computer there while they ordered the part...They call and tell us that it's not the part they were thinking (1 1/2 weeks later) that it was something really simple (something my boyfriend and I asked if it was the problem) and that we could pay another $114 to come pick it up. Frustrated but so glad it wasn't a major problem because I have so many pics and music on my comp. I finally got my comp back and have missed all of you on Mylot so much!!! Has anyone out there ever had the problem where their laptop just shuts off out of the blue?

Try backing your photo's up on a disc and well you music as well. I got an external hard drive where I store my music now and any other files just incase my computer goes down I'll have them still. Glad you got your computer back.

Shooie, I will definitely take this into consideration. Can I still have an external hard drive with a laptop? LOL These are things I don't know about :D But thank you for the backing up on disc idea. I will try this very soon. Thanks for the response :D

Yes you can have an external hard drive hooked to the laptop because that's where I use mine. My husband and I both have desktop computers but I prefer to be on my laptop and am on it 99.9% of the time so yes that is where my external is. It is a 320g hard drive. Paid under $100 for it price them out like wal-mart,office depot or office max maybe even best buy.

Welcome back. I am so lucky that my husband works with computers for a living and can basically assemble one from nothing. Whenever we have a problem, he can fix it and it's either free, or we just have to buy a part. Occasionally he may get stumped as to what the problem is, but he has a lot of friends in the computer industry, so he'll just tell them the problem and they might have a solution he hadn't thought of. You need to get yourself some friends like that, lol.

LOL Kats :D I think you are definitely lucky. Fortunately for me my boyfriend has family that actually works on computers but for some reason nobody could figure out what exactly had happened to it. LOL!!! I need someone like you have who can help me out like that without spending $150 each time :P Thanks for the response :D
