Could someone please explain how MySpace works?

I guess this should be an obvious question.
But I've been online for over four years
and I still don't know my way around Myspace.
What the heck can I do with my MySpace Page?
I have a MySpace account and page, but I don't
know where to go from there.
Are there forums, similar to MyLot?
What are the best features?
Can someone please give me a tour around MySpace,
so I can get the idea of what I'm doing over there?
Would appreciate very much.
Thanks!

I have a Myspace account but I don't think I will be very helpful at giving you a tour. There is no forum, per se. You can post blog posts and anyone who has subscribed to your blog will be notified whenever you submit a new entry. I use it mostly as a way to keep up with a few friends, see pictures of their kiddos, etc. It can be rather boring and I don't even open it everyday. I only open my account whenever I get a notice that someone has left me a comment or posted a new blog.
I finally had to set my account to semi-private so that I would stop getting so many friend requests. People have to know either my last name or email address to request my friendship.

I've been worried about the privacy
issues on MySpace too.
I've heard some bad stories.

LOL. It's one of those things you have to talk with friends through messages, comments, etc. It' kind of old news nowadays, not many people are thrilled about MySpace anymore.

Mylot has spoiled me rotten!
Now every place I go has
to have some sort of forum or message board.

Is beautyqueen26 your myspace name as well? I have a myspace page but since mylot i dont go there very often. It is nothing like mylot in my opinion you can im your friends when they are on ,you know they are there, they are lite up so you know. You can add comments to your friends page. There is a bullentin board for you to post on,it is not a money making site. I hope I help you somewhat, you have a great night. The best feature is that you know when your friends or on line.

I don't remember my MySpace page address.
But I checked MySpace under the username
beautyqueen26, just in case that was it.
I haven't been there in a long time, so I
don't remember.
Turns out another girl has beautyqueen26
as a username!
That's so funny.
No, that's not me.
I have never met her.
Maybe she came here to MyLot and saw
my username and then took it for Myspace.
More likely it was a coincidence.
Who knows.
Thanks for the ideas.

Ha ha myspace, hmm well I have just joined it in the last week and so far I have managed to put my music on and I have put a couple of applications on. Oh and I have changed my profile page and that is about it! LOL. I am on the lookout for some friends on there now but I think unless I know anyone on there then it may not happen!

Myspace is very popular nowadays and Facebook has potrayed myspace. If you have a facebook, it's the same thing
Myspace is a social networking system where you meet new friends, add friends, send messages, post pictures, comment pictures, have your own page & blog, etc.
It's very famous nowadays and many parents think it's bad just because rarely kids get in trouble from Myspace and it is potrayed as a "bad influence" on television networks such as CNN.

You know what sweety I would love to help but I don't use myspace at all! Nope I don't even have an account or page there! I do use Bebo which is quite ok - you can play games, quizzes check out what your friends are up to etc - I am mainly there as my son asked me to join and rarely log in but it is still nice to be able to see what lots of family and friends are up to! xxx

Good evening, dear beauty queen. I am not a member of MySpace, but I am sure that you will get some very helpful and informative responses to the questions raised with good luck. Enjoy yourself, my dear friend.

Thank you my friend for sharing your
day with me!
It is late evening here.
So, I will say have a good night.
But I think it is early morning there.
So, instead, I'll say, "Good morning!"
Be well.
Your friend,
Beauty Queen

I like to view my Myspace as a free personal
website where I get to show off about my life
to anyone who might care! It is a great place
to get in contact with old friends and people
you went to highschool too. So add some
pictures writr some little blurbs about who
you are and find some free layouts to make
your page pretty. Then go to your website and
look at it as if you were your own best friend
and realise how great you are!
Yeah, I am a wierdo, but I am happy!

on myspace - one of the best bunch of people i've met (or not met) is in the over 40 & fine group - you can find it in a search, and request membership - there are lots of friendly regulars that can help you find your way around!

It can get confusing I will admit. I have tried using it a bit especially because I wanted to see the live chat features but there are so many kids who just mess around it really gets annoying. I have found some much better sites for picture hosting and for discussions, but if you are into that sort of thing it just takes some getting use to.

myspace is an online community just like friendster and mylot. it doesn't pay you though. lol.
you can put pictures, add friends, talk with them through private messages, place comments to someone's page, customize your myspace layout by putting themes on it, embed widgets like music players and the like.
you can also broadcast bulletins that will be visible to your friends. you can broadcast just about anything. you can announce birthdays, special events, announcements or anything you feel like saying.
my neice has a myspace account and she really puts her heart into it by personalizing her page! you can actually visit their help page (i think there is one). or you can ask me for assistance and i will try my best to help you. (i'm not that familiar with myspace but i think it will be as easy as friendster). lol. :)
happy mylotting! :)

Myspace is like this site but for your close friends only. You can do ANYTHING to your page to make it look and sound however you like. It makes it easy for people to make a good page using easy functions to make them feel like they know a lot about computers, in order to make a professional looking page you need to use HTML. Pretty much it is like a blog for friends to talk to each other through forum type communication and look at each others "cool" webpage creations.

OK! I see! I can get on board with that.
Cause I love HTML and coding.
Can't wait to start experimenting.
Thanks!

I have a MySpace page, but I never go on it. I was excited about it after a friend of mine in a different state told me she has one. I thought what a great way to keep in touch. My kids use MySpace so I asked them to help me. They told me I was too old and refused. Go figure. I tried to create my own, so who knows what it looks like.

MySpace is one of those websites for social networking. Things you can do on your MySpace Page are meet and greet new or old friends. They can comment on you. You can post you photos and you can interact with people through messaging, forums or bulletin board. It's one way of being updated with friends you haven't seen for a while.
