A baby or a mother?

I was sort of in this position with my wife. She had to have C-sections for all of our children (4). When we had the third child we told the doctor that we wanted to have her tubes sealed. And he forgot! He offered to have her come back in perform the operation but she had just been through the stress of the last operation. We chalked it up as a sign and told him to forget about it for now. She became pregnant again within that year and miscarriaged. After that we really began to discuss with our doctor about her health and the possibility of having another baby. The doctor wanted to perform the operation to close her womb and we did not want to...really. We had another and had the operation performed. I took a lot of heat from friends, but I feel like you should gamble what you can't afford to lose. I would choose my wife. You can always have another child.

That would be a very difficult situation to be in. If it was up to the mother I think she would want the baby to live instead. I once heard of a situation similar to this one. The pregnant mother was told by the doctors that she must have the baby removed or she will die. She refused and they had alot of people praying for them. In the end everything was fine they both lived.
