Or do you find someone to watch your puppies, if you travel with your pets do you find it difficult to travel with your pets or is it not really too much of a concern.
What about when you stop to get something to eat do you leave your pets in the car, or do you just get something to go,. then go eat at a picnic area.
We have two puppies and were thinking of traveling with them but the more I think about it the less I like this idea. I think they will be staying with someone if at all possible so that I don't have to worry about them,

It depends on the vacation. Most trips that my family makes is a) to visit other family members, or b) to go camping with our trailer. In both cases, it's very easy for us to take our dog with us, and we do. My family doesn't like using kennels, and we try to avoid leaving pets at home for any length of time without contact.
If we HAVE to go somewhere without our pets, we'll drop them off at a family member's house so that they can watch them for us without having to bother with going to our house.
Actually, my sister is going on vacation this weekend, and we'll be watching her two dogs for her. It'll be a ton of fun.

If I'm taking a vacation, I go without my dogs. As much as I love them, they are a lot of work. I tend to adjust my lifestyle around them (for example, I won't go out in the evening at all if they've been alone thoughout the day), so for that few days, it's nice to be able to only think about my 2-footed family. I hire someone to petsit in our home because I think that my pets are most happy and comfortable in familiar surroundings. However, had I "raised them" so that a kennel was familiar and comfortable, I'd take them there, just so I wouldn't have to clean the house for the petsitter! (lol) Also, since I have several pets, having someone come to the house is cheaper. We do have a couple of "luxury kennels" in my area, though; one is owned by one of my former in-house petsitters and is beautiful! If we're just taking a day trip, I don't take my pets unless I know that they can be with me at all times. We eat via drive-thru's or picnics and plan to be in pet-friendly places. Otherwise, they're happier and safer at home than they are in the car.
