Blogging: daily short posts or weekly long posts?

how's my blogging? - For the past days since I created my blog, I have posted six long posts. I am wondering if it would be better to just make shorter posts and post it everyday. What do you think?

For the past days since I created my blog, I have posted six long posts. It is because I want to give my readers a quality reading experience. I am wondering if it would be better to just make shorter posts and post it everyday. What do you think? In your opinion, would I generate more traffic if I would posts everyday with shorter posts?

Sometimes I just do short post especially if I really don't have the inspiration to write about stuff. I think it doesn't matter how long or short your post is. What matters is that readers would keep on reading because they're interested on what you're writing.

I used to have a blog, but i have not log in for few years.. lol ^_^ NOrmally i will make long posts once i have the time as i dun get to use my computer everyday.. Sometimes, it all depends on the purpose of your blog, that determines how long or short.. As for mine, my posts are usually long as i will sum up everything that happened for the few days, into 1 post ^_^

I think posting short ones on a daily basis are more helpful in this case.Do you really need to post long posts for quality posts.I do not think so.You can post short ones & still manage to have a good quality. It takes less time and helps you to increase your earnings.

You could generate more traffic with short daily posts. The search engines give higher ranking to sites with changing content, so the more often you add new content the higher you will rank at the search engines. Readers are more likely to keep visiting your blog if you post every day. I intended posting on my blog every day when I began but sadly I only seem to manage to post once a week now, but that is still better than not posting anything new so I try not to let more than a week pass between posts.

I would say long weekly post. I think people will eventually stop reading your posts if you do short, not as detailed posts because the quality won't be as good, and your readers won't want to read it any more because they can find better blogs to read. So, you would probably generate more traffic anyway if you do do the long weekly posts. And you could also generate more traffic by giving me the address to your blog so I can read it. :). Good luck with writing it, hope you become a successful blog writer.

Good point here cubshater! I always think that I want to give my reader a quality read even if it would be long. I want to make posts which are informative regardless of the length, but I always want it to be compact. I don't want my readers to leave my page unsatisfied. Anyways, here's my blogs: http://earnalotinmylot.blogspot.com And here's another one that I update daily: http://mylotcafe.blogspot.com Thanks and have a nice day!

It depends on what blog I'm updating and what I have to say. One of my blogs has to be exactly 100 words per day. It's this website I'm involved with. You can write about anything. It just needs to be 100 words exactly. Other blogs I write can go from 200 to over 1,000 words especially the ones about politics. Mostly, though I post between 250 and 500 words per post.

Hi, I will like to write a disclaimer 1st as don't believe a word I typed as these are coming from my own experience, is not a matter of right or wrong. I want you to exercise independent judgement. If you want to generate traffic, you may want to post articles to other websites and also create short articles which adds value to your readers. If you want retention of readers, you might want to create long articles from time to time. Depending on what you want..if you are just starting out, you may want to create short articles for e'ryday reading. When you reached to a certain number of readership per day, then you can start to create long articles posted up weekly. Is a matter of your choice and how you wanna do it. You can refer to my blog for some pointer as my blog have long articles in the form of websites. The links are on the right side of my blog. Take time to explore my blog and the links beside it to get an idea of it. http://enrichingyourlife.blogspot.com Hope it helps.

I do not post everyday, nor make weekly posts as well. I actually don't force myself to post just to be able to make a post. I write when I have something to say. Right now nothing much is happening to my life, so I don't know what to write in my blog about. If a lot is happening in your daily life, then you should blog it everyday. Because it would be really long if you make it a weekly update. But if it's not, then I think it would be better if you make weekly posts. Because if you update everyday most of your posts will be in your archives before they were even read. Not too many people go through archives.

Hello richiem. Well, I do not have a blog but I often think about starting one. I would think that the key is to write about what you know, either with great seriousness or humor, whichever you are best at writing. When I read blogs, I tend to read shorter ones. I guess that's the whole internet mindset--it's got to be short and quick or else I won't spend alot of time reading it. But that's just me. Quite frankly, if you find your niche and people have an interest in that area, no matter what it is, they'll no doubt read it. Good luck!

Technically speaking Yes because if you post and update your blog daily then search engines are going to quickly identify your blog as being updated daily and the crawlers will more often visit your blog to index its pages and the early your blog posts get indexed by search engines the early you are going to get search engine traffic . About the post length of your blog post I will say that not many readers like to read posts that consists of over 1000 words . Normally blog posts ranging from 350 to 550 are considered ideal for an average reader . Remember quality and originality is the key here . No reader will appreciate if they find duplicate content on nay blog that they have read somewhere else before . I hope you will find my tips helpful - Kashif http://www.kashifblog.com

I do shorter posts throughout the week. I'm bad at scheduling 'blog time', so it's easier for me to do them throughout the week so that people don't see the same thing every day while waiting for an update. I don't do really short posts and I try to include pictures so that there's more interest. I think the topics you select have more of an impact on how much traffic you generate than how often you update.

In my experience blogging, you should never comprimise quality for quantity. Sure, it's true that seach engines like sites that update your content daily, but if you need to sacrifice the quality of the content you post in order to update your blog daily, it could do more damage than good. Your visitors come back and read posts (providing your traffic) because they're interested in what you're writing. If you start to post more frequently and provide content that isn't up to par, you may lose a good portion of your readers. On the other hand, a weekly post probably isn't enough to get the job done either. Visitors may lose interest if they only get one update a week. Try to put together 3 or 4 quality post per week that contain the information that your visitors crave. This will give you a day or two to create/write each post and more importantly it will give your readers time to digest the information and/or put anything they have learned from reading your posts into action. In the end, you should NEVER sacrifice quality for quantity. Quality posts filled with the kind of information your readers want is really what is going to bring them back again and again. If you can keep on a schedule of 3 to 4 quality content posts per week, you should be just fine.
