I just read an article about SSRI antidepressants causing gastrointestinal bleeding. Made wosrt if you take Ibuprophen pain killers. I take an SSRI,(Paxil)I also take Ibuprophen and I also have occassional rectal bleeding. I have been to the emergency room for this several times, but it always seems to go away once I get there.
They have told me to follow up with a GI specialist and the one that my doctor referred me to, does not take my insurance. I just started writing it off as hemmoroids or fissues. I think I will find a specialist ASAP. Check out the article and tell me what you think, should I panic??

Panicking is the last thing that you should do. First that you should do is like what you've said find a specialist that would accept your medical insurance. I think the medical insurance may recommend you to one. Although you've had many experience about the bleeding thing but unless it has not been checked by a doctor what causes you about this you should not conclude what it is basing from what you read. You may be an exception to it, but, might as well consult is as soon as possible.

No, you needn't panic. First make sure the authenticity of the article. There are many ways to make it clear, such as asking professionals, going online to check relative information, etc. Then after the checking process, you find out the way to solve it. Things are not so bad as you think even though what the article said is right.
