capital letter

Hello Do we write capital letters after the two dots? Eg, he said:They are ill. Thanks Regards

Oh my God, so this is a serious topic about grammar stuff. Well,it depends upon what kind of sentence you are using, say for instance you want to write the following: I have lots of stuff in the house: "bear hugs, banana pillow, bangles" (you need not to capitalized those things because you are only stating common nouns). but if you write things in a dialogue manner and you are using proper noun and a pronoun then you must write it in a capital letter. For example Molly said: "I want to cry".

Hi friend, It all depends upon oneself.I need not write capital letters after two dots.I don't that habit of writing. Have a nice day.

It depends on what you follow the : with. In English (British) you should only use a capital if the word following is an acronym, proper noun, or normally capitalized for any other reason.

I guess in this example you have to use it because you are introducing a quotation but you can also use quotation marks like in the previous post. Anyway usually you don't have to put a capital letter after the two dots.
