With the price of gas and everything else going up because of it, what are you doing to cut costs? What thrifty tricks have you resorted to to lower you electricity bill. I've heard alot about people hypermiling to save gas, but I'm always in a too much of a hurry to coast around town. I have put styrofoam insulation sheets in my windows to help block some of the South Louisiana heat from coming in, and have also installed ceiling fans in almost every room. I dont know what else to do. After my last electricity bill came in and I owed the city $250, I started to hang my clothes to dry instead of using the dryer. I've also resorted to daring my kids to stand in the refridgerator door and taking 5 minutes to decide what they wanted eat or drink. Hounding the children to turn things off when they leave a room is now a daily occurence. So what are you doing to save money these days?

I had never heard of hypermiling before. I am glad you mentioned that term. I looked it up and found the following site that goes into it a little and helps to explain:http://ecomodder.com/forum/EM-hypermiling-driving-tips-ecodriving.php
That explains how to do this pretty much.
Anyways I have always been frugal, you know coupons, price matching at the grocery store, rebates, stockpiling, and the like. I also know that ceiling fans help to cool off rooms. I try to use leftovers and incorporate those into new meals to try to save. And I never buy clothing unless it is on sale too.
It is hard to try to economize nowadays I know.
Good luck!
