I was replying to a response on one of my threads when i realized that the person I was commenting about had just gotten their 5000th post. It was just a second and I was in the middle of my sentance but I completely lost my train of thought. LOL Isn't it funny when that happens. Ok sometimes it very annoying. What is so funny is that I was telling that person how when I respond to a discussion I make sure I think about what I am going to say. How ironic. Here I am preaching about thinking about what you say and then I forget what I was saying in mid sentence. Be honest. How many have done the same thing. Whether on mylot or talking to someone. How did you recover?

I find myself walking to go do something and then by the time I get there I forget what I was going to get. I think its called "multiple kids syndrome". At least thats what I think has caused mine! I always fdrget what I'm going to say or what I'm going to do. Sometimes I even have to..........um...err...what was I saying?

I tend to find myself more often than not starting a task and by the time I finish what I was doing I realized I had started 5-6 tasks and never finished one. :-)

What I find is that I will stand up to go do something. As i am on my way i will forget what i was going to do. But if I go back to where i was I can usually remember. Funny. Thanks for the response.

I can totally relate! What's even worse is when you call someone and when the phone starts ringing, you forgot who you were calling in the first place - and THEN they pick up, you have to quickly figure out who you just called! But yeah, my train of thought has been derailed many times. LOL

Oh I do that all the time now that I am getting older. It is scary because I think I am developing Alzheimers' or something. It is very easy to lose track of what I am going to say. I don't even care anymore I just ask the person I am speaking to "What was I talking about?" and go from there. Most of the time everyone thinks I am just plain funny. I try to write down notes so I don't forget stuff to write for my discussions but sometimes that still doesn't help!

I call these moments brain farts, lol. It's like your mind completely shuts down and gets rid of any information that was on the surface. It's weird how our minds work. We humans are strange creatures. I don't think there is an etiquette for recovering, lol. You just have to hold your head in your hands until the information gets back to you, lol.

I find going back to the place I had the thought works sometimes. Like if I thought of a discussion to start and before I started it I go and respond to someone I will forget it. But if I go to the discussion I was at before I can sometimes get it back. (SOMETIMES) :)

I do it on a daily basis hahahaha. I go off topic and go into so much detail that I forget what I was originally talking about. The way I see it there are only 2 ways to recover. Either keep talking until you remember or shut up and see if they ask again :D

I prefer the expression "Well...what do think about what I said" In hopes that they will clue me in on what was going to say. lol :)

Yes it drives me crazy when that happens. I just sit there and try to get it back. I usually remember when it's too late. :)

What do you do when that happens? Do you let other people know or keep it to yourself. :)
