Have you ever taken anything to sell at a pawn shop?
I have a few things I want tp get rid of, not quite enough to have a yard/garage sale, so I was thinking about taking some of it to a pawn shop. But I have never been to one before.
How does the selling actually work? Is there paperwork or something? xD

Yes there is a paperworks. But if you're going to a pawnshop its not really you're selling it to them you're just pawning it to them(is that the right word forgive me)you have to pay a monthly interest.I would suggest if you want to sell it sell it to your friends its better and easier too.But always be prepared that they are going to bargain about it to have it in a cheaper price.

I've haven't personally pawned some items, but I had accompanied friends and my mother to some pawn shops. It's also a pretty popular way here in the Philippines to get a quick buck and the items that are most often pawned are jewelries, cellphones, scientific calculators even (!) and some appliances. From what I gather, an appraiser will first determine the item's worth--you can even haggle, from what I've heard, so you can get a higher price--after that, you'll be passed to the person assigned to give you money and the paperwork along with it. From the paperwork, you'll know until when you can get your item back from the pawn shop, provided you have enough cash with you to pay for that item with interest.
That's about as much as I can remember regarding transactions with pawn shops. Like I said though, since I myself don't have any personal experience, my words aren't the most accurate there is. It's probably best that you go out and try it for yourself, then you can tell us here in mylot how that turned out. =)

I've never been to a pawn shop. I've always wondered what they were like though, and was thinking of making my own. However, I imagine it could be quite a dangerous place to be considering they have all sorts of stuff, & less security then most places which means it'a target for robberies. Watch yourself! I don't think you'll run into anything like that, but you never know 'specially with the economy worsening.
If you're doing it to get decent cash you're best just having a yard sale at your house as long as it's a fairly public place & you do it during the day.
