ahi, I have 2 kittens, actually they are my daughters. They are both almost a year now, in fact the female probably is. The male, a silver tabby is starting to urinate, and poop other places as well as the litter box. We keep it clean, I got an extra box. I punish him when I catch him and put him in the box. Any sugestions for me besides getting rid of him? Help please.

Hi paisley, You just kind of have to be patient with them. If you see him looking like he is fixing to go somewhere other than the litter box, grab him and stick him in there. Or even take him and put him in there every couple of hours. Kittens aren't real hard to get to use the litter box, you just have to work with them a little. Also since he's male there will come a time when you will want to have him spayed because male cats are horrible about spraying. They will spray any and everything once they get to a certain age. Hope this helps!

I'm trying to be patient. Simba never did this at first and he is almost a year old now. I had him spayed at 6 months and our female fixed. They are not siblings and are great company for each other. I love to watch them play and hunt each other down. Id hte tohave to get rid of him, he is part of the family now but I cant have my house smell of cat pee

My oldest female cat, has started to do her business elsewheres as well. She is very finicky, my husband cleans the litter box mostly every day. If he misses a day she won't use it. When we see her scatching the floor, we know she is getting ready to do a no no, we yell at her and she will stop, as soon as my husband freshens up the box she will then go. She hasn't always been like this, I do not know what sparks them to start going some place other than the box.

Your cat can't talk. He has no other way to tell you he isn't feeling well. Please take him to the vet. If the vet says he's OK, put him in a small room, like a bathroom with his litterbox so he can only go in the box. When he does go in the box, tell he how good he is, give him a treat. After he goes in the box for a few days, let him out but supervise him while he is out. If he looks like he is about to pee, put him back in the box. Don't punish him. That doesn't work with cats. Please don't get rid of him. He may be sick and need your help.

Thank you for your advice. I really think there is nothing wrong with him. He uses the litter box most of the time, In fact I should knock on wood as we have had a very good week. I will try the small room if he starts back up. Thanks again

Is your cat spayed? He may be marking his territory. My cat is really, really good about using his litter box. He is a spayed male and has never given us any problems. He does get upset though if the litter box isnt clean enough. I try to keep it up to his high standards. I am thinking about getting another kitten but not if it is going to cause a problem with my current cat. He seems pretty happy with the status quo and I dont want any litter pan regression.

Simba is spayed. I have had many cats in the past, male and femle and never had this problem before. Thank you for you thoughts. I scoop out both boxes every morning. I sprinkle a little baking soda in and mix it, so the box is pretty clean.
