Due to a study, games that are hard challenge the mind, henceforth making them addicting. When you are thinking really hard, trying to remember every single little thing you saw on the way, trying to solve a mystery, or frantically trying to find adjacent gems to swap in order to win, peoples brains are trying really hard to concentrate, therefore exercising your brain. Yes, crossword puzzles, mazes, and Sudoku are the same, thy are hard and drive your brain to the limit looking for the answer in every corner of your brain, so connections between neurons are being strengthened, and new ones are being made. This makes your brain stronger. Games like shooting that don't have a puzzle or mystery that you are trying to figure out are questionable, but a lot of nintendo games, and many games that involve puzzle-solving skills will actually help your brain, so people may say they are mindless, but they are only mindless if they are too easy, and you don't have to stress your mind to come up with a fast solution. Bejeweled, Jewel Quest, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 9 and Jewel Quest all are good games, and of course there are many others, some free at www,bigfishgames.com and other neat sites like www.neopets.com and www.marapets.com. (Note, only some of the games are mentally stimulating)

what about a study that says Fighting game and shooting games dont really contribute to real life violence for boys they are like an outlet they help take out they're anger.. virtually. But then again there are stupid people who think they can be JUST like a person in a video game and... kill them-selves.

To put a link in a post, I simply type the web address and when I publish the discussion, they appear like that. it helps to type http://www.neopets.com but usually it works with just www.typing.com. I don't think that it is a big money maker.

I've been a video game fan for years and I do believe it helps peoples minds as well as mine. I feel that people who play video games have the ability to have a sharper and quicker mind from them. I feel it can help you in school as well as everyday life.

They absolutely do. But I personally do need a reason to play video games, lol. Most of the studies that I've seen are of older people around 60 and above playing video games to sharpen their mind. And it actually works. They soon had the hand-eye coordination of a fifteen year old, lol. It's pretty cool that video games are shown in a positive light for once.

It really depends on what type of video game you're talking about, and what you mean by 'mental stimulation'. Practically everything gives that. A swift kick in the pants causes mental stimulation; it causes reaction from pain receptors, and (hopefully) teaches you an important lesson about what to do to avoid a repeat occurrence.
Some games have been shown to increase hand eye co-ordination, or spatial awareness, or improve problem solving abilities. But then, so do so many things.

Most of the Games test our abilities like reflexes, quick decision taking ability, teamwork, strategy, creativity etc.
Soccer and other such sports games test how quick we can think, how creative we can be while we play the game and what kind of strategies do we adopt.
Elements in the games like Age Of Empire, World of Warcraft etc. test our strategy making ability, how we manage our resources, how to optimise our development in game.
As far as shooting games are concerned then games such Counter strike really require good teamwork to win and pushes the players to alter their strategy for every particular map.
So, Games do give our brain a healthy workout.
