I never thought I would have a favorite breed of dog until we got our pug Dolly. She is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. She is so gentle with the kids and doesnt bark or jump on company. She lets the kids carry her around like shes a baby. When my sons go to bed they have to sleep with Dolly. I have had a poodle, and a cockapoo, a papillon, a labodor retriever, lab/chow mix and now a pug. And a pug by far is my favorite and the only type of breed I would get. She has the cutest face and when she looks at you its like she knows exactly what your talking about. The kids adore her and want another one lol.
So what is your favorite breed and why?

Favorite is hands down the German Shepherd Dog. Beauty is a given with them but they're also loyal, intelligent, protective, versatile, friendly (if somewhat aloof with strangers), and just plain good dogs. I could go on for hours about them and often do until I see that glazed look in a person's eyes. LOL Dobermans and Siberian Huskies are great too but they just don't fit my lifestyle or personality.
I don't really care for toy/small breeds. I like a dog I can get down and wrestle with without fear of hurting it. I also can't stand their barks. I like big booming barks, not small, high-pitched, or yappy barks. I like that I don't have to worry about my large dogs being killed by a hawk or something like that whereas with a 3 lb chihuahua, that could be an issue. The exception is the Swedish Vallhund which is fairly small (around 30 lbs) but they look and act like small German Shepherd Dogs so I can't help but love them. I'm not too big a fan of longcoats in any breed but I also don't like extremely short coats. Any of these types of dogs are fine if someone else owns them. I just don't care to have them.

I own a pekingese male dog and it is adorable. We used to own chihuahuas before, but at times they can be a pain to deal with. The dog we have now is very intelligent, smart, loving, spoiled and doesn't bark to new people it meets. We trained him very well watching those shows on Animal Planet.

I had a shih-tzu that I was absolutely was the very best dog I ever had by far. His name was Rudy and he was my sweetheart. He would do everything in his power to try and make me happy. When he was a pup, I took him to obedience school. They gave awards and Rudy got most of the rewards. My boy lived to be 17 years old before I had to put him to sleep. The day or two before I did, with tears streaming down my face, I had him groomed then I gave him his very favortie meal. My baby went out in style. I still miss him and he will always be close to my heart. I only hoope that when I did he will be there waiting for me.

medium sized dogs are the best, like retriever size or labrador size. My top favorites (i just cant choose one) are the golden retriever and the bernese mountain dog. Both breeds are loving and playful in general and great to have as pets especially for kids growing up.

I like Labrador retriever. They are intelligent and playful dog. I have 2 dogs, both 3 years old Labrador retriever. A female and a male. I just adopted them to a friend who can no longer take care of them. I like them because they are so jolly and easy to train, they like taking a bath, they love water.

I like dogs in general. But my favorite type is the Border Collie. They are so awesome to witness in person. They have an intensity in there eyes like humans. And they are considered one of the smartest breeds, if not the smartest. I really want to own two one day.

Hi,
I have five dogs as you can see in my avatar. I have two mini-schnauzers that are my babies. I had another mini-schnauzer years ago and when she passed away I eventually got the brown doggy that is in the center. Shelby is the top dog in our house. I eventually got 2 more mini-schnauzers. My love is still with my mini-schnauzers though. (don't tell the other ones) The little one with the floppy ears, Fritz is my velcro dog. He goes everywhere with me, yes including the bathroom. He's my baby. I do like the smaller dogs better because I like to pick them up and hold them and you can't do that with the bigger dogs. lol
Have a good night,
Char

I don't know if I have an overall favorite breed, since my "favorite" tends to change from dog to dog that I own. However, I can say that in general, I'm fond of the larger dogs (anywhere from 70-100 pounds is ideal). For one thing, they don't usually have as many breathing problems as the little ones do (though to be fair, you have to worry more about hip displasia), and in my opinion, it's nicer to have more to cuddle. I also like the more active lifestyle the bigger dogs generally offer me.

Pugs are great, love the personality. Although I have a pug/Pomeranian mix, and he is not gentle or quiet. Still, he's great.
