why does it look odd when wives are taller than their husbands

Dear friend, May most often it is seen most of men are taller than their wife and I do hope as a male I am ready to marry a women taller than me. But it may find difficult a women accepting a person shorter than her except in cases like love marriages. But I do see it as a symbol of style. For me it looks like really stylish when these couples stand together.

I think, it has come from some pre conceived ideas. Our minds are atuned to it. we have gotten used to the fact that men should be taller than the women from generation after generation. Its difficult to break the notion. However, having said this, many star couples are like that and we do not have any problem with it. Nice discussion!

Why do you say its rare? I've been taller than pretty much every guy I've dated..especially when I wear high heels which is all the time LOL...I dont think it looks all that odd, BUT, I'm one of the taller than him gals LOL

As a looker-on, it does look weird that a woman is taller than her husband. The reason why we feel this way is that we get used to this "man taller than woman" thing, and it is hard to totally change people's traditional conception in a short time. I'm OK with it, as long as they love each other. After all, it is their life.
