hello fellow mylotters! yesterday i purchased an ASUS EEE PC 2gb laptop and i must say that i love it! being portable, which is about the size of a notebook, you can carry it to your bag and use it whenever and wherever you want to! at first, i was hesitant to buy it because i am not familiar with Linux operating systems. I grew up using windows 3.1 to windows vista. i was surprised though because their functions are almost the same! talk about price, it costs PHP 11,500 (philippine peso), which is about 250 US dollars. very affordable, huh? :) now to it's specifications: display: 7 inches intel & cpu chipset operating system: linux colors: sky blue, black, green, pink ethernet connection WLAN memory: 512 mb (DDR2) SSD storage: 2gb audio: HD audio stereo speaker and built-in microphone battery: 4 cells, 2.5 hours weight: 0.92 kgs (2.02 lbs) it's features: keyboard is a little smaller compared to standard laptop keyboards. you may find it difficult at first but in a few days, you will be comfortable using it. on the left side of the EEE PC, you will an rj-45 port for ethernet connections, mini-exhaust fan, 1 usb port, plug for mic and earphones. on the right side includes 2 extra usb port, a VGA out port and an SD card slot. below the keyboard you will see a small mouse panel where you slide your fingers as if it was the mouse with the presence of the left and right click. on the right-most side of the panel is a scroll so you won't need to click and hold the scroll bar, press and hold the down key or hold Fn and the down arrow key to perform Page Down. on the bottom right side are status lights of the laptop. power light, battery/ac, hard disk activity and wireless connection. the power switch is located at the upper right side of the keyboard. the 7 inch screen gives you a 800 x 480 screen resolution, making it a little challenging to view large websites as you have to scroll left and right, up and down. on the sides of the screen are its built-in speakers and a built-in microphone located at the top. the desktop is divided to several categories including Internet, Work, Play, Learn, Settings and Favorites. in my personal opinion this is a standout for linux because you won't need to press a start button and look for a certain program that you want to use. with linux, it's much better, less clicks. :) the linux operating system includes programs much like microsoft office in the name of documents, spreadsheets, presentations and the like. to sum things up, the ASUS EEE PC series is much of a use for people on the go and basic users. the laptop's main usage is internet browsing and performing office work. on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being the highest), i will rate my EEE PC a 9 for it fits me in all ways i can imagine. :) do you have an EEE PC? tell me your thoughts about it. :)

Good to hear, I'm thinking about buying a 4GB one for college so I can make my notes directly onto a netbook and transfer them to my pc once at home. In our new building there is a possibility that there are no desktopcomputers and we have to bring our own; if so, this is a great way to take along a small personal computer during travel and for short periodes of time in college. Accessing the internet and working in office is the most likely things I need to do, I do need windows XP so getting some more RAM and memory might be needed but that's not a big deal either . Sounds lovely, thanks for sharing!
