My name is Wendy. It is the feminine derivative of Wendell, which means "wanderer". It's interesting because I used to wander away as a child through the orchards behind us to the neighboring farm hoping for cookies and milk - she'd always call my mother to let her know where I was. When I was with my grandmother and aunt once, I thought that they left me at the store and I walked the 5 blocks back to their house and then walked back to the store again because they weren't there. The police were there with them because I had "wandered" off and they were worried sick. I moved 2300 miles away the first chance I got at age 20 and have been to Europe five times. I also lived in Venezuela as a child because of Dad's job. I never thought about how appropriate the name was until just now. To think that my mother just pulled the name out of thin air because she only had a boy's name picked out at the time!
