Which came first the chicken or the egg? (an explanation)

hi steelraintrain. i'd go with the egg. i'm not limiting the discussion to a chicken egg per se but egg in general. an ovum is an egg so i'm picking egg since early creature had to reproduce and had to bear an ovum. doesn't really makes sense to me but really looking forward to langan's explanation.

you dont have to be a rocket scientist, or smartest person in the world. DUH! the chicken would have had to come first, because the actual animal would have to be here in order to mate and have offspring, etc. even tho im told sometimes an egg is not offspring, it was still for that purpose in the beginning.

This is a very puzzling question and it has been for a long time,and I would love to hear what Christopher Micheal Langan explanation is and he must be a very smart man, and I bet it will be something that I would never think of,my explanation is that one chicken and one egg were created at the same time,so the chicken could hatch the egg,and the chicken inside the egg could lay more eggs.

i think the chicken came first cuz Allah said in the quran that he made the alive thing in the first by male and female and that mean Allah made the chicken of male and female then the egg came after that i wish this is good explan
