Hi, Whether you just traded in for a new one or you have a cell phone that doesn't work anymore, what do you do with it? Do you throw it out? Give it to someone? I send my old cell phones to the PetSmart Charities. They provide prepaid mailers at the store that you can put them in to be sent in to the charity. They use the money they get from the cell phones to support programs for pets. If you want more informationk, you can go to: http://www.petsmartcharities.org/ Have a great day! Char :-)

Hi my friend, You are very correct. It's is truly a waste of money to buy a cell phone when your other one works fine. I don't usualy buy a new phone. When my contract comes due, Sprint usually offers a great deal on a new phone or a free one. I find it hard to pass up the savings or the freebie. Thanks for your response and have a great day! Char

The only time I change phones is if my phone service doesn't work where I need it. Or my husband got one at work and we can just walkie talkie each other as well as call. I have no idea what my cell can even do, I know how to call and PPT other than that I don't care. I know a lot of people that need the latest stuff, no need for it myself.

I just ordered something in the mail and in the box were prepaid envelopes for CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS it says the phones can be in any condition and do not even need batteries ( if you do have the battery send it with the phone). There is no phone # but the address is CELL PHONE RECYCLING CENTER 2555 BISHOP CIR W DEXTER MI 48130-9916 This is to help soldiers call home; my nephew is in Iraq and calling cards only last so long with the long distance charges.

I give mine to the battered women's shelters, and I give my SOs to a veteran's group. I've also given ones that don't work to people on freecycle who fix up old ones to sell or use for their families. I didn't know Petsmart took them, too. Thanks for the education!

Thanks for your response. I think it's great that you give them to someone in need. It is always good to donate to charity no matter what the cause. Have a good evening, Char :-)

We just keep our old phones. The only reason we have ever gotten a new phone is because we broke the old ones. I guess we have 3 or 4 around here. They are useless to anyone. Mine are flip phones, and when you break the flip on one side, your phone is gone. My husband had one of mine on his belt and went to get up into his big truck and caught the flip side on the door handle, breaking it. It was the smallest and the best phone I had ever had. The phone is no longer available. The phone we have now we have had for 3 years and just won't quit working. I've been waiting for them to quit for 2 years since I didn't like them. But we will use them until they break, too.

Thanks for your response. I think it's great that your phones work so well for so long. With our service provider, they try to get us to renew our contract every 2 1/2 to 3 years and usually we get a new phone with the deal. The old ones so far still worked. I like the idea of getting a new phone every three years. Have a good evening, Char

We thought about getting a new phone when our contract ran out, but decided we don't like contracts. So we decided to see just how long we could keep these phones. We have had to buy only one battery, so there is no telling how long they will last. They have been dropped on pavement, fell our of our car on to the pavement - nothing seems to hurt them.

I keep all of my old cell phones around, because I never know when my current one is going to stop working. I happen to have terrible luck with new phones. Something is always going wrong. So it's nice to have spares available that I can use as a back-up. In the past I have donated my older phones to family members.

Thanks for your response and Welcome to MyLot! That's a good idea you have there. You never know when one of them will konk out on you. I just hate to see people throwing them in the garbage and it's so much better to recycle them no matter what you do. Have a great evening and I hope you get to love MyLot as much as I do, Char :-)
