OK basically I will have to build something for my last semester for electrical engineering in college. I know how to build pretty much anything but no ideas are coming to mind. What would you guys build, electrically or electronically, if you had the ability to? Nothing TOO complex and nothing TOO simple.

you could make a children's toy! that would be cute and I dont think too hard because I dont think the people who make childrens toy's try to make it too hard. Its simple yet complex.

Hi, your assignment sounds like an exciting challenge. If I could purchase this today I would. An electric all weather door mat, that emits a signal to the inside of the home and lets you know when someone is standing at your door day or night. The door mat signal would go to a base inside the home and you would know from the base how long the person had been standing there without ringing the door bell, and it would give the time of day or night, a.m. or p.m. even if you were not at home. You could check the base unit and know upon returning home if someone was messing around the front or back door. It must look like any all weather door mat or a buglar would know not to step on it. It could also turn on an alarm, if someone tried to remove it. This would be something to get a patent on, if you can do it. Please let me know what you think by a response.

What about a robot? You could make it as simple or as complex as you want to. It seems like robots are going to play a big part in the future and it would be good to get some experience working on them. I like them, When my son was young he had a alphie robot or computer guy. He did basic math it was fun. He also built a leggo mindstorm robot when he was about 12. It did not have the complex brain but it was able to go backwards and forward. It was a cool toy for a kid.
