What do you think about Polaroid discontinuing the production of film?

It's been news for a few months now, but Polaroid decided to stop their production of film for next year, due to the rise of digital technology and less of a need for film. Now I love Polaroid and find it to be the most fun film out there, so it will be quite a loss for me when I can no longer use my 1989 Polaroid impulse=( It's sad that a form of art has to be discontinued- though I do use and enjoy digital, my photography experiences will not be the same.
What do you think about all of this?

Evolution to digital worlds is constantly trend.Digital process make photogarph more convenient ; more faster ; more reliable and more clean( without chemistry medicament ).I believe the most advantage is more cheaper. You don't need to buy films. You can view the pictures on the screen.you can see it immediately after shoot(In the past, only Polaroid can do this) .

Yes, this is true, but so many people have specialized in polaroid photography for years, there are even polaroid SLRs. Digital does not have the same effect as polaroid, you can not get those colors, edges, and aesthetics as you can with the polaroid. To me digital is just a lazy form of photography, I use it, but I tend to stick with film because it still looks better to me.

I had a Polaroid many years ago and had fun with it. Then moved on to other things.
My guess is that this is an environmentally sound move as I am sure the process left behind a lot of chemicals that went into the environment.

I too have a Polaroid that I loved using so much. There were times when having that photo develop in your hand was so convenient. Have you seen the new photo printer Polaroid is working on right now to print out digital photos the size of a credit card? Here is the link and a picture of it... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/13/technology/13novel.html?_r=1&_r1&8ur&emc=ur&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

That is sad, but I'm almost completely digital, but I used to love my Polaroid. I wonder if Polaroid will make digital memory cards and such.

I heard about it but I also heard there will be quite a large stock of it for those die-hard fans of the film, which you would have to specially order. I would get in touch with Polaroid and ask them
