I use credit cards mainly at the gas station to help improve my credit. They are good for emergencies you have no other source. They did a poll that most Americans are useing the tax stimulus package to pay off some off bills rather than save or spend the money.

I have credit cards but I don't really use them that much. I would rather just buy everything with my own money so I wont have to worry about it later. If I do use them, I pay them back before I get the bill and I pay it in full because I refuse to pay interest. I heard just having credit cards, even if you don't use them, builds your credit because the company has to report to the credit bureau that you paid ontime even if you didn't purchase anything to pay for. So credit cards do help you if you know how to control yourself.

I use credit cards as my predominant payment method. I never spend what I don't have and pay off the bill in full every month. Credit cards are only dangerous if you let them be, and I think using them responsibly can make life infinitely easier. I have a debit card but I never know how much is in my checking account and don't want to have to worry about moving money around between accounts or call every time I need to use my debit card. I also prefer to use my credit for online purchases. Doing a chargeback is a lot easier than attempting to get back your money after a phony charge has gone through on your cheque/debit card!

The only plastic that you will find in my purse is my driver's license and birth certificate. I've never owned a credit card and I don't really plan to. I just don't like the thought of spending money that you don't really have. Debit cards are all right, I've seen many people use them just as they would a credit card. Atleast I would know that what I paid for is ACTUALLY paid for and no company needs anymore money from me. I might get a debit card someday, but it's just as easy for me to pay cash. As far as writing out checks, I only do that when writing out bills.

Thats really a good thing that you just pay with cash out in public since theirs identity theft. I would keep that habit up if I was you. I need to do what you do.
