To me it was Led Zepplin. I think they started heavy metal, whitch killed disco, whitch spawned hair metal, and then to be different cam grunge.

Heavy metal didn't kill disco music. In my own opinion it was the era of new wave music and punk rock.

Objectively, I would say the Beatles. They have probably influenced more bands and more styles across more genres of modern pop and rock than any other band in history. As for me, although I'm not a musician, the band that has influenced me the most is KISS.

I don't know if I can just pick one. The Beatles, definitely. The Rolling Stones as well. Also, Nirvana. I know they are more recent than the old bands, but they have continued to influence music and still get constant radio play where I live, at least.

I pick ACDC and Pink Floyd. They inspire me to be a better guitarist. Even though they are both very different, I have gained so much from listening to their music. Pink Floyd has inspired me the most to write my own lyrics. And I think they paved the way for a lot of bands to experiment more with sound and technique.

Led Zeppelin was one of the pioneers of hard rock or heavy metal. They became famous in their concert "the song remains the same" which features "stairway to heaven" and "black dog" in 1973. Disco music started in about 1976 where discotheques flourished. To name a few bands who played disco music during that time, they were van mccoy, isley brothers, kc and the sunshine band and etc. Led Zeppelin was the most influential rock band together with bands like "the who", "the doors" and "queen" however they all came before the disco era.
