How do you gain financial freedom

I have to many bills and not enough money coming in. Today's economy in the US is so bad. The career I chose (medical transcription) has changed so much over the years that it is very difficult to make the kind of money I used to make. Before it is my turn to die, I want to have financial freedom. I do not want to have any bills and I want my cats to be taken care of. I don't have money to invest. I don't like taking risks with my money. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am middle aged and it would not be easy for me to make a career change at this point in my life.

Well, unless you're prepared to take risks, there's no way that you can live without bills or taxes. Living "Off the Grid" is extremely risky at this point in time, and few people have what it takes to succeed at it because it takes sooooo much effort. My suggestion to you would be, take a few hours and really look at where your money is going. Are you making any unnecessary purchases? Are you buying food from restaurants or fast-food places instead of grocery shopping? Do you have magazine or newsletter subscriptions, or other subscriptions to things that you don't really need? I highly recommend that you check out http://clarkhoward.com/ It's got a LOT of information on how you can save your money and avoid being ripped off. My youngest brother - who, at 21, is even more of a tightwad than I am - recommended it to me when I asked him the same questions. Hope that helps!
