Is Church a place to go to meet people or relax .

My concern these days about going to Church is very worrying, i see many people going to Church without carrying their bibles, some even make the sign of the cross but when you ask them the meaning of what they had just done,they don't know.
Should going to Church be like a social thing or a play?

I can only speak from my point of view.
'Church' is not as it was when I was a child. I am in Italy but I am English and lived my childhood and teens in UK where 'church' was completely different from here. I do not frequent any church for years due to these difference which I do not personally accept.
By the way, when making a discussion check that you are placing it in the interest to which it is pertinent. I feel this one is not in the right place

You are correct that I would not have seen it
It is not in the 'wrong' place as there is no such a thing as the wrong place - but if you wanted more attention to your discussion maybe there was a more suitable place - that was what I was intending

Churh is a sacred place and is only a place of prayer. This is the place where you can meditate and talk to GOD with your heart. It's sad to say that some people especially the youth used this place even for dating and courtship. Maybe church officials should look into it. Or maybe the church has already relaxing the grip of their moral obligations towards their community and tolerating this kind of situation in their yard and succumbing to the trend of the new generation?

If one does not respect the church, then one shouldn't go there. But you always need to remember that the church is not the building, the stones, the shrines... but the **people** who run it. If you do not fully trust the clerics who run a church, or if you know that they are not as decent as they claim, then you should **not** go there.

Quite surprised you posted this in the 'make extra money section'!:)
But in response to your question...going to church is a social thing to some extent, how many friends do you have that you met at church? And there's people who question why you didn't go to church and the rest..
No, it should not be a joke definitely but if people go, that's what counts that they have made the effort,not whether they carry a bible or not.
I have not been in a while and commend anyone that still goes:)

Thanks for your reply,it was not delibrately placed in this section (make exral money) but had it been that it was placed in another place, you probably wouldn't have seen it,thanks!
Some people go to the Cinema and club houses and manage to share some christian tracts or pass messages of the gospel,what a place to preach but its working.

church is a place of worship and to pray, nothing else. if you only go to church only to meet people or just relax, it's better you just stay in your house. church is sacred place that must not be disrespected. it will only add to your sins if you go to church not to pray but to meet other people just to show your new clothes, jewelries or car...

No in any other religion.I think if you go to the church you should concentrate in nourishing your soul not on socializing or play.It is a place where you can learn a lot about God because there is somebody who is an expert about it.And it will truely bless someone if they listen.That's why if somebody is asking somebody about the bible they can't answer because they don't listen.There is a proper place for anything.Church is a place to nourish the soul and I think we owe it to our soul .Man cannot live by bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God
