I guess there is somewhat of a weighing of the options before you leave your job.....but at what risk do you say that I would rather be miserable in my job and tolerate all of the okay things that are there versus leaving & finding something else that makes you happy....even if you have to sacrifice a few months with little to no income?

I was in this exact situation a year ago, and I quit. I had already put up with 2 years worth of stupidity, and those 2 years were enough to last me a lifetime. The job itself was fine. I had no problem with the duties or tasks I was to perform, but the people I had to deal with everyday were rude, nasty, needy, gossipy, incompetent and thought they were somehow "better than" me. The day I quit I was so beyond happy, and I didn't care who knew it. My boss and co-workers even tried to guilt-trip me into staying longer, to help "clean-up" some stuff they had not completed. As if that's going to work, and as if I'd stick around just to help out the people who tried to exploit me every chance they could for the 2 years prior.
I can honestly say, I was treated with more respect when I worked as an exotic dancer than I ever was working in that office.

Considering I need a paycheck to survive I would keep the job untill I could find another one to replace it then I would give my 2 weeks notice and go to the other job. No point staying at a job that you are miserable, and the co-workers dont respect eachother.

If my behavior is keeping to myself & doing my work without bothering anyone else is not the 'right' attitude then it wouldn't be ME! I'm not required to do anything other than my job & be myself. Yes...they are IDIOTS! If you have to gossip then do it in your own office. If you are going to make statements about me then make sure that it is the truth. Thanks for the post!

I would look for another one just because it could get worse as the years go by and then you'd be expected to perform more if they couldn't do the job themselves.....It's a team effort.

But would you quit prior to finding other employment for those same reasons?

That happened to me. I couldn't stand being there. It was my first full time job and it was in a factory. The people were just complete morons. I took a crossword book with me because the people there didn't seem capable of proper conversation! My son was only 2 and my sister had him, I think I might have stuck it out a little longer at the job if it wasn't for him but I just thought "why am I here with these people when I should be at home with my son who could have a more interesting conversation with me?"

Conversation does not have to happen in a work place beyond anything outside of business, but something in you chose to take on employment outside of the house. If you really want to be at home with your child & still have income try some of the following sites to get started....

I have Joined this company few days back. here many people are working hard. but, i dont think those are hard work. the work wich they take a half day i do it in 1 or 2 hours.
it is not only the technical work but, they dont have much knowledge & they are not fast learners thats main reason they suffer. In Big companies observe that you are fast learner or not they dont expect a full complete person but, they need fast learners.
