Last week my 10 month old son thought it would be fun rip off my buttons on my keyboard. He only got the number one off. I had to contact customer support so I could get it fixed. They told me that they would send a new keyboard out put I had to put it in myself. I was freaking out. I know a little about computers but I don't mess with the inside parts they are to scare for me. I received the new keyboard and in braked on a journeying on installing a new keyboard on my laptop. Now, I was scared because I new one mess up and I would have to replace my keyboard. So, I sat down at the table and read the instructions 2 times just to make sure. then I took out the million screws in the back of my laptop. Popped open the back and took some more screws out laying them in a neat pile to to mix them up. Then I popped off the keyboard and put the new one in after 5 mins of trying to get the connector right finally got it in. Put all the screws back in the right place and closing everything up. Now was the test if I didn't mess it all up. Turned the power on and it was the longest 1 min I have ever had. I slowing went to enter my password and YAY it worked. I was so excited I ran to my husband and said " I did it! I did it! I FIXED THE KEYBOARD AND IT WORKED!" He just looked at me like I was a nut case and said" good job babe" I can't believe I did it. I'm so proud of myself. Has anyone else had to do something like this?

I have never had to mess with the keyboard in my laptop, but I did have to add more memory. And just the thoughts of taking the screws out and messing with anything on the inside scared me. But I did it and ah la I had more memory.

will replacing keyboard is a real big task which have done according to me. If the keyboard was for the desktop computer then it isn't an easy thing to do but when you are working on a laptop it is something which needs a lot of opening screws and fixing the keyboard and I think if not done properly you can really screw yourself up rather than opening this crew of your laptop. time got that they have done it properly and I hope you will make it a point that it is kept out of reach of your son because it is actually not his fault anyway but it did cost you are lot. I think it is not a very cheap part when you are buying a keyboard for your laptop. A general desktop keyboard ranges from 400 to 500 Indian currency to thousands but when it comes to a laptop keyboard I can guarantee you it will definitely be more than 2000 bucks in Indian currency and that is one big problem. Anyways thanks for sharing the experience

I had to replace my keyboard on our desktop. It's a simple replacement because all I had to do was plug it in the back of the tower. I spilled a regular Pepsi on the keyboard. So I bought a new Microsoft keyboard about a year ago. Now the letters are coming off the keyboard. Good thing I can type without looking at the keys. Only have to make sure my fingers are placed on the right keys to begin with otherwise my typing looks like another language. Good job. I do have a laptop but never use it. Have a good day, carolbee

Nice, i myself tried to fix my keyboard once which had "sticky keys" probably because i spilled coke on em one night. I opened the keyboard up with screwdiver and cleaned all the dirt inside it. Little i did know that the keys has to be in exact same place or you are messed up like when you press "i" it comes as "u". Man that was a pain, but then i opened it up again and made sure that it is in exactly right place and tried again and it worked. I don't really know why i even bothered back then. The keyboard only cost a few euros. Hardly worth the trouble to fix it when you buy new one cheaply. Well every money u save is for nicer use :)
