I updated my ITunes software the other night and got this browser called Safari with it. I had never heard of Safari so I thought, why not? I mean I had never heard of Firefox before and I downloaded it to try and now I use it all the time So, in the past couple of days I have given Safari a trial run or two and I have to say it is awful. If this is Apple's idea of a browser, they better stick to computers This browser is so slow that it makes AOL dial-up look like Speedy Gonzales! OMG, it crawls like a snail! Any of you use this browser? Do you like it? Is it just me?

i used to have a mac and it came with safari. there were things i couldn't do for example i just wanted to upload a picture in my gmail, but safari would let me. so i downloaded firefox and i could do what i wanted. my sister is a web designer and the new firefox allows her to do some technical things that she couldn't do before. from my experience firefox is better. i see that you're not thrilled with it either.

Not thrilled at all. But, I have not been all that thrilled with Apple since they did away with their great computer, the Apple 2e so that they could have the Macintosh LOL

I wonder why you didn't like safari! apple has been developing and upgrading safari browser every time they come up with a new OS release. I like safari and the best part is that now safari is available for PC too! I have the PC version of safari and regularly use it. In case you have some issues with safari's performance, I suggest you should call the computer guy. may be its a system problem that causes safari to slow down. If it helps, you may like it better than now.

Unfortunately, for me, I am the computer guy I'm sure the problem is that I have been spoiled by Firefox. Even Netscape which I always used before Firefox seems crummy to me now

haha. great! and I happen to be a web designer so have to work with all browsers! Firefox is my favorite too..arr..any browser other than IE gets a high rank ;) but safari is still an all time favorite for me. I realized that you being a computer guy are evaluating it by speed and other technical things and me being an artist/web designer, I'm evaluating it by the look and feel it has, usability etc. so all is well :)

You know, right now, I'm using Safari itself to type this response. I also got it alongwith the update package of iTunes. Somehow, I feel that Safari has a cooler look. I was really getting bored with the green loading bar of the internet explorer. Even the loading symbol of Firefox is approximately at the same location. I must say Safari provided a refreshing change from that by showing the blue loading bar overlapping the address space. The scroll bar to the right of the screen is also decorative and more pleasing to the eyes than those bland ones of IE and Firefox. Most importantly, I feel, it's got this spell checker which highlights my typing mistakes in red so that I can easily tell which ones i have to rectify at the end of typing a long response like this one without having to go through the whole of it over again which I used to do earlier. The slow speed isn't such a big matter for me. I've seen pages loading slowly even on IE when the server isn't operating smoothly. Indeed, I have never faced speed problems after installing broadband. I think we are gradually becoming accustomed to faster and faster speeds so that even a fast one seems slow. Cheers.

I do love my broadband Safari is okay, it's just slow for me, and I always seem to be in a hurry, which is funny since I am retired and have nowhere important to go

I guess that it works well on an Apple product It worked okay with Windows at first, but then it slowed way down today and froze the computer at one point. In some ways it reminds me of Internet Explorer LOL

I did the same thing the other day. I chose to download Safari because my boyfriend has a Mac computer and Safari is the default browser for it. It works really well for Macs in my opinion, but it's not so great for Windows. It worked ok for about a day, albeit a bit slowly, but now it's just completely stopped working, so I've reverted back to Internet Explorer. Can't say I was too impressed with Safari for Windows. However, if I ever got a Mac I would probably use it.

I have tried safari and its fast, good fonts, clean layout and nice animated transitions. I never use it much though because I use firefox. I don't think one can customize it like firefox do. Its a good idea actually to have more than one browser for cases that one has problem you can have an alternative to use.

True, one should always have a back up browser. I like Firefox a lot, but I also have Netscape just in case

My husband set up our house with a Mac because he is into Information Technology so he stays on top of things. I have used it before and it is fine for an Apple computer. I have never tried it on am IBM-Pc type computer before. I didn't know you could or why you would want to. Better to stay with Internet Explorer or Firefox.
