How do I mend a mobile soaked in water?

A few days back, my mobile fell into water. I dried it up, then started it, everything worked except the screen. I can accept incoming calls, I can call anyone, if I connect to PC I can send and read messages, speakers work. In short, full functionality is intact, but only the screen doesn't work. I don't know who is calling, and when I call I can't check the number I am dialing.
Is it beyond recovery? Or can it be mended? If yes, how?

well try consulting it to the service provider where you buy it if its a postpaid cellphone and if not then im sure it has a warranty for one year but if its over then you have to let it be repair to the authorized cellphone repair shopped ..it will still be repair depending on the availability of the spare parts..maybe the lcd was damaged..

I went to them but the charges they wanted were equal to 80% of the present cost of the set. I guess then it would be better to buy a new one.
